I have about 800 miles on mine now, I had about 280 on it when I bought it. Getting right at 20mpg with first two fill ups.

My 2.3l 5sp, 4x2, AC ranger gets 25mpg everytime. There's no reason the Tacoma couldn't get the same if not better since my Ranger is a 2006. With 187k

And yes, I'm getting a Tacoma. Waiting for Toyota to OK the build.

My first tank ran 18 mpg. I appears the second will be over 20 mpg.

Yes the motor is broken in after 10 min but it still takes time and miles to wear down the friction in the motor and have everything flowing smoothly.

In regards to mpg mine started at about 12 after a tank of gas it went to 18. Over 1k and I'm getting 20 mpg constantly. 2016 double cab 4x4 TRD off road

You will not get the EPA-rated fuel economy unless you drive the way the EPA did. EPA fuel economy numbers are for COMPARISON purposes only. They are not intended to indicate without any doubt what fuel economy you will get. I'm not sure how this continues to escape you people.

FYI my Sierra is rated 22/16 and I get a whole range of tank averages depending on how I drive, the weather, whether I took a crap that day, where I am driving, etc. And I get from 15 mpg all the way up to 21 mpg.

    YMMV

For most Tacoma owners the only trucks seeing 25 MPG regularly are almost all RC 4x4, some AC 4x4s and 5 lug trucks.

Hopefully you aren't expecting too much out of the new truck. Tacoma isn't an economy truck, even with the 3.5 trickery or extra 2.7 gears.

I occasionally saw 25-26 mpg instantaneous highway out of my 2.7 reg cab 4x4 manual. But usually my tank averages were around 19-20 mpg.

I averaged 22-24 MPG regularly on my DCSB Prerunner 2.7.
28 MPG was my highest (got it once) mileage, calculated at fill up.

Back when I was stock, of course..

Today I filled up, got 18.25 MPG - which is my new normal.

All of the first 3 tanks on my 2016 2.7l AC 4x4, 5-speed were 24 mpg.

Oh really, what technological innovation did I miss? Do you really believe that?
I kinda relate that remark to my 5.56 is broke in after the first mag.

There is a break in period, what it is may be open for debate, Toyota recommended something like easy driving the first 500-1000 miles for a reason.

That would be a factory test, break in if you wanna call it that, I am sure they dont have the same set up for the front and rear diff, tranny and driveline, wheel bearings, let alone the brakes, and everything coming off the front of the main. I would not consider a factory component QA test of the power house a full break in for all systems, let alone the motor itself.

Guns are a parallel, get a grip.

ok, alrighty then, you can take your brand new broke in motor with 7 miles on it, out in a rampage because its broke in. Sounds logical to me, Ill break mine in as it needs then rampage with what ever weapon I decide that day and feel a whole lot better, whether you or I get better gas mileage really doesnt matter after that does it?

I'm getting a AC 5sp 4x4, so I hope to be able to get 25mpg. I honestly don't drive very hard. I drive a semi for a living so going slow is my thing. Haha.

If it gets 20 on average I'd be happy
