I think everything looks great except the grill. There is another thread with some aftermarket stuff photo shopped on and it actually helps quite a bit. The TRD models will look a little different also. I really hope they come out with a TRD supercharger for it soon so the price of the 2nd gen one may get cheaper :D

    Dip-Lip Bumper..it's official...that's the quote-of-the-day.

I would place money on the fact that the tailgate isn't reinforced, or maybe they are calling the crimped sheet metal they used to make those pretty designs and the word "Tacoma" reinforced...but I doubt it'll hold up anything like the old "angle-iron mod" that I and so many other people did...WAY stronger.

For the love of God, just clean up a dozen or so issues that EVERYONE knows about and we'll all go out and buy one
    .
    1. Drivetrain shudder during accel
    2. Rear drum brake clunking..by changing to rear disc brakes
    3. Heated side mirrors
    4. TRAC in 4WD LO
    5. 2-way breather on the rear diff
    6. Heated seats
    7. LED lights everywhere
    8. HID or very bright headlights
    9. Lights under hood
    10. White DTRLs
    11. Locking glove box
    12. better mud flaps.
    13. Stronger tailgate

It's not rocket science Toyota...figure it out!!!

It's not too bad looking. The cab section seems to be the same as the previous generation. What I don't like is the new sheetmetal on the front & rear has a chiseled look to it (sharp lines). Where the cab still has the older curved lines. Just doesn't flow well to me. Seems like a rush job.

How much would you like to bet that the interior will only have insignificant changes, if any at all? I fully expect any changes we do get will be tech or luxury related, and not so much a benefit to a basic practical vehicle, which is what I bought the truck for.

The styling is ostentatious, which is unbecoming of what was once known only for reliability. I hate the look of what we've seen so far, and unless Toyota has an ace up their sleeve with a great new engine and manual transmission (I wouldn't be surprised to see that gone as well), I am in no way excited for the new Tacoma.

    LOL what a mess.

    Mitsubishi Raider bed.

    No rear discs.

    Ugly snout.

Laughable ground clearance with front air dam.

And the cab is completely unchanged....which makes me think Toyota rushed this....that they were not planning on having to do a redesign and that the GM twins caught Toyota with their pants down.

I bet the mechanical "improvements" are lousy.

Hahahahaha. See ya at the bottom of the heap, Tacoma.

i Keep saying it is an evolutional design not revolutional . All of you know how conservative the Japenese are. For them , Reliability comes first , anything else second.
Funny part is that I am willing to bet that more than 70% of the people that say that Toyota failed with this design and that it looks like crap and so on will be the ones with the truck a year from now . Same thing happened from the 1st generation to the 2nd and the 4runner as well.

If I was buying new again next year, I'd still probably buy the 2016. If I were buying now, I'd get the 2015...glad I already have the 2014 and it's mostly paid off!!!

Love my truck despite its few flaws.

Agreed. Say what you want about the Colorado, but it at least looks like it was all designed by the same person. This looks like they gave each component to a different team, then slapped on a skirt at the end.

LOL, I would absolutely hate it if they gave everyone here a hand in its design. It would probably look like something right out of the Mad Max movies, LOL!

I think the aftermarket bumper builders have their work cut out for them. From the looks of that front end, designing a front bumper is going to be a BITCH!. Rear looks easy enough.

    Yes
I just said the exact same thing to the CBI guys, looks like the front bumper will require a fender and bumper cover cut similar to a rear high clearance cut so that trim under the headlight remains etc ?

Bleh. I wouldn't trade my 03 in for that. Taking a f150 and merging it with a 2nd gen. No thanks. I'll keep my first gen for another 10 years.

This, the tundra is the same way as well. Front end and bed are squared/chiseled and they kept the same cabs which were rounded. Very surprised they went gen 2.5 instead of giving us a 3rd gen.

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
At first I see a full size Tundra but when considering the actual size of the truck... I like it. I can see a black 2wd, slammed on the pavement. I'd have to get rid of the lower portion of the grille (cut the f'n thing in half and discard) and modify the shit out of the front bumper but ya I dig it. Bring it.
