    Hello guys,

Every time I go over speed bumps, my 2016 taco with 15 k makes a clanking noise from front end, it's been making that noise for few months and the noise isn't getting worse. Amy idea what could that be? I went underneath truck couldn't find anything but when i tap on left side CV joint it makes the clank noise. Should there be little resistance around CV joints? ...i bought this brand new and very careful driver. Any suggestions? Dealer can't seem to find the problem.

    Thanks already.

Do you need to know, or care?
I have the same problem, but dealer couldn't replicate. Only happens on occasion, usually when cold and going over bumps on an angle. Dealer told me to either record it (which is next to impossible unless you are recording all the time) or bring it in and go out on another road test.

Yeah same here but mine makes the noise going over bumps little faster everytime. If I slow it down then it doesn't.

I get the same thing over speed bumps and turning at the same time. Don’t think it’s anything to worry about.

Yeah but the noise wasn't there when I bought it brand new though. There shouldn't be any noise going over bumps. No other cars or trucks do.

I have a had it since the beginning if I go over the speed bump to fast. I thought it was something hitting the cab mount or something along those lines

9C24C8DF-C2FC-4C65-A14B-C90DFD7E0B1D.jpg Check the drivers side coil spring in the area highlighted in the photo...there should be no metal to metal contact in those areas...there is a piece of rubber on top of the spring and brown plastic around the coil...all should be free of damage.

At about 30,000 miles every time I would hit a bump, driveway, dip, etc I would hear a "clunk" or "clash" coming what it sounded like the front suspension. It seems quite similar to what you have described.

I sent my truck into the dealer and explained what was going on. They were able to recreate the problem and replaced some parts. I'll post a scan of the parts they replaced. Maybe that will help you, or others.

After the repairs, it's been quiet.

Idk if you’ve heard this before, but my 2016 was doing the same thing. Turned out to be the front passenger body mount, the 16s had an issue where it would get ripped from the factory when the installed the cab on the frame. Requires replacement because as time and miles get out on the truck it eats away at the bushing and become metal on metal, mine made a thud over speed bumps, pulling into the driveway and under braking occasionally.

Hey thank you ronzio...is that piece of brown rubber from factory installed? Appreciate you posted a picture. Should be able to explain it to morons.installed camera by left front fender. Noise is loud and clear when going over bumps. But no, morons will be morons. Showed them a video and audio of the noise. Still couldn't figure this out. Toyota wanted me to pay for diagnosis. I'm like fu.

Yes that brown piece of rubber\plastic is factory...I know if the dealer replaces your front coil over assemblies and rubber bushing that sits on top of the coil the noise will go away.

Ive got this clunk as well. I can get it to make the noise every single time on a certain dip in the road while turning, but doesn't seem to do it on any other bumps. I figured it had to do with the front struts. I have 59k on mine so I was just going to wait for a good deal on some take offs

You seem to know all about this thing. Apparently those Toyota mechanics are just computer mechanics.
    Thanks a bunch.

Just wondering how long will that brown rubber last, if it scrubs with that cover all the time. Kinda lame.

Interesting I found this thread. I have the same problem. In my 18 OR 4x4 with 12,000 miles. Usually on cold mornings and at random times but very often. I go over speed bumps and when the truck squats, I get a clunk from the front driver side area. I’ll have to check that picture “TRD SPORT2016” posted. Maybe just simply disassembly of the whole struts and re install so it can properly seat might solve it.

I have a full set of 5100 and OME springs ready to do my lift and I’m sure whatever the issue is will be gone. But holding off on lifting due to fear of warranty being voided.

I been having this noise too for awhile. Usually when it’s a cold start going over small bumps. I recently installed a lift hoping for it to go away, But it still makes the same noise if not louder. Will check if it’s the strut or cab mount bushings.

I have the same problem / "clank" as well. Sounds as if a light piece of metal is striking another piece of metal. Started about 25K miles and has progressively gotten worse / louder (at 36K miles now). I took it to the dealer and could easily reproduce it. They put it on the lift, checked underneath and couldn't see anything obvious. They re-torqued and re-greased all the steering and control arm components and said to give it some time for the grease to work its way in. I doubt this will solve the problem (still exists at this writing) but we'll see. HStone 556 suggested the front body mounts, but there is a thread on that and it seems people there are reporting a "creek or squeak", not a clank (I know......all these technical terms) I may look into the body mounts if the problem continues though. FWIW, mine occurs one the back side of a speed bump / hump or curb, not when going into it. Any thoughts, ideas or suggestions would be welcomed.
