So I am wondering if anyone else has noticed that their 2016 clutch seems to engage only at the very end of the throw. Mine seems like 80-90 percent of the beinnning of the throw is essentially unused. Its been like this since I drove it off the lot. I am close to brininging it in for its 5k service so I am going to ask if it is normal. I'm used to having the clutch begin engaging basically as soon as I take the petal off the floor, this clutch reminds me of my motorcycle thats clutch was at the end of its life. And no I have not abused the clutch.

I bought a '16 in auto so I can't speak for that, but my '12 was the same as you are describing.

I would say my 2016 engages about half way up. My 2007 did not engage until the last 25% of the throw.

Mine engages at the top of the throw, and I like it that way to be honest. It's done it since I picked it up with 5 miles on it

Huh. Looks like it's common. I always associated the clutch engaging early in the throw as a sign of a healthy clutch and a worn out clutch if it engages at the end. Maybe toyota wants it to engage there for some reason. I keep absentmindedly forgetting where it engages and driving by muscle memory which causes 2nd gear to Rev up before it's engaged.

Mine acts the same way -- I like the way it engages personally. It took me a few hundred miles to get used to the clutch/shifter, but now that it's settled in, I really like the MT.

The 4 cyl manual acts this way. I found the shifting a little clumsy until I realized that, if I only pushed the clutch pedal only about 1/3 or less when shifting, shifting is smooth and sporty. I exercise my zen this way.
