Mine finally said that every off road they have had has been low, so they check them all now. I didn't even bring it up.

That service manager sounds like he wants a corporate position.

    6/13/16 PM Update:

    • Alignment completed, it was out of alignment a bit.
    • 3/4 quart low on trans, so it was filled
    • Licenses Lamp Assembly was replaced
    • Plugs for lower controls arms installed
All in all, about $500 in more free service. Truck doesn't howl anymore, which is great. Also, it seems like it holds gear more before it shifts and doesn't downshift in places I drive where it used to shift.

Only thing left is to get the rumble strip vibration fixed and I'm done!

Does anyone else only hear the whine with the rear seats folded flat? Less of a sound barrier is all it takes for me to hear it, can't hear it with the seats up. Going to change to redline soon and I'll see if it changes anything

My new rear axle has arrived at the dealer, and I just dropped off the Taco! Looks like I'll be cruising around in a totally rad Corolla S for the next 24 hours. So excited to finally get this taken care of!

Thanks! Glad to hear you are on the home stretch too! Seems like you have just had the worst luck with all the issues. Luckily for me the whine was my only issue. Well I had the LCA wind howl too, but I just plug that myself a long time ago.

Yeah, it's been pretty easy going really thank goodness. My wife has a 13 Chevy Cruze that we have continuous problems with, which we bought new. I have to go pick it up again tonight at the shop, lol. Ever since 5K, it's been a PITA dealing w/Chevy, but I was a PITA to them as well and pretty much got kicked out of one dealership and asked never to return (lesson learned).

Toyota though, has been a totally different story for me (and I learned my lessons dealing with Chevy on how to approach all this and be nice to Toyota from the start). Her next car will be a Toyota for sure. She has always been Chevy loyal as her grandpa worked for GM forever and we always had discounts too, but not after all this :)

Also, I'm pretty sure I'm so picky that the normal person wouldn't knit pick as much as I do. If things aren't perfect, I get weird. Most people probably don't even notice these issues we have with our Toyo's. The only main difference with my rear diff and a normal whine, is that it was so low on fluid, it would have eventually self destructed on a normal guy too, so there's that :)

I love this truck. Always been a ford guy myself and still have a 95 300 straight 6 4X4 short bed in mint condition with only 80K on it. I'll have it forever.

Welp, just picked my truck up after having the rear axle replaced, and I think I am finally good to go! Couldn't hear anything when I had the music on. If I turned everything off (music, and air) I thought I could hear the ever faintest of noises, but I am 95% sure that is my imagination

I had a 91 2x4, never any issues. My buddy had a 90 with almost 300,000 miles that just woudnt die. 300 straight six is a beast.

I have had the dealership and a Toyota Field Tech both tell me my whine is a characteristic of the truck. I've given up getting this fixed.

Do you guys yell and scream to get the service you get. My dealership just wont even make an effort to warranty anything. Shit!

Luckily my dealership has been absolutely amazing! I haven't had to twist anyone's arm to get anything done. I told my service writer that I was gonna call corporate about extending my warranty when he ordered the new rear axle, and he told me that he would try to help me out when they called the dealership to get the details of the issue. Pretty much the same experience when I called corporate. I calmly explained what was going on, and asked if there was anyway to extend my warranty. The extremely polite woman I was talking to gave me a case number and said she would call the dealership to find out the details. When I went to pick up the truck my service writer said both he and the manager spoke with corporate about my case when they called, and said that they tried to push for them to up my warranty. Then sure enough corporate called me back today and just said it was done.

It sounds like the dealership might have a lot to do with whether Toyota will give you a warranty or not. Thankfully my dealership has been absolutely superb in every way. It is a shame that that isn't the case for everybody....

No, I've been super nice and laid back. I use words like 'disappointed' and 'let down' but am not confrontational. I think you should find a new dealership and see what happens.
