okay so I have 7k miles on my 2016 Tacoma when ever Im breaking to a red light the truck down shifts kind of harsh. Like it kind of lugs me forward a little bit. Is this normal for the trucks?

I have had both software updates

No it's not normal, but they all do it.

Mine doesn't do it so no, they don't all do it. Have you had your truck flashed with the latest transmission update?

I'm gonna say you just don't notice or to much of a Tacoma fan to admit it. But I would be willing bet yours does it to if I were close by you we would make a wager. Lol

Nah it definitely doesn't. It shifts smooth and predictable up and down.

I'm not a tacoma fanboy, this is my first Tacoma and I primarily chose it based off the color and Toyotas reliability notoriety

I have the same issue. I need to get the flash. However it sounds like the flash won't help... It happens once or twice a month. It's completely random for me.

I hope they fix it! I was driving on an icy road. No issues till I started to slow down for a traffic light. The transmission down shifted and either locked the rear wheels or made them spin. I was almost in the ditch before regaining control.

Mine does not do it anymore .... because I filled the tranny up to the proper level... It was down 1 1/2 liters....

Drives like a new truck now....!!

The truck might have responded similar to how it would if you tapped the brake in those conditions, and broke traction.

But the downshift neither locked or spun the rear wheels.

Have you asked your dealer for a fluid level check? Many are low from the factory and that 'can' cause harsh shifting. Most dealers don't want to be bothered.
