My forester D4S wasn't that dippy, but it was turbo. Will definitely need to see if there's ways to control the emissions and switching while dyno'ing.

Supposedly its supposed to run on all injectors when WOT, but I have no evidence, I may graph a test drive on my truck one day.

Thank you for posting the dyno sheet! Happy with the numbers for sure.

No, it can spin faster but produces less Torque (actuall power)

Well comparing the numbers on this Dyno with the numbers from the 2GR previously posted there is a difference of 10lbs of torque, having the 1GR more torque but less HP with a difference of 34hp. I have driven the 2014 , and I still feel the 2016 is quicker off the line. Maybe not the ideal vehicle for towing but for everyday use and recreational and offroading which it is its main purpose. My .02 cents

Notice it is scaled by ground speed on the bottom? It was shifting gears as it accelerated. Converter may have been locking and unlocking as well. It's tough to get good dyno results from an automatic unless you have a way to lock the converter and hold the trans in one gear to prevent all of this.

So is having max torque at a higher MPH a better thing or worse?

Comparing outputs from different dynos is not good. Can compare curve shapes but not numbers. Ewpecially if they are different dyno types.

Yup. For the record, wasn't planning on it on my end. Just ran across it.

Really hoping OP can get a stock 2nd gen on there...

Disregard that Dynojet torque curve - the torque does not peak as high as that graph makes it look. The peak on the Dynapack graph was at 4200rpm - which is more reasonable and likely to be accurate. The manual trans makes it a much better measurement, as it removes a major variable from the test.

its best to have at least 80% of your max torque early in the rev range, then have a smooth steady climb to max torque output just 1-2k rpms under your engine max speed (redline). More importantly you want the torque curve to be smooth and consistent, this translates into a predictable throttle input. In racing, a smooth torque curve makes a world of difference when your loading/unloading your suspension back and forth in the corners.

It's not really the dynos fault, there just isn't a good way to test these new automatics without transmission control. If they had tested a manual it would have looked a lot better. Most other new cars with 6 to 10 speed automatics will have the same problem as well.

I've never seen two dynojet's read the same figures, its why I say that. But yea your right about the trans. That is one other thing i've notices on this new Tacoma, when you put the gear selector on its not a true gear selector like other automatics i've driven. The Tacoma gear selector is more of a top gear selector, meaning if you set it to 4th gear and you give it more than 50% throttle, it will downshift. My my other cars (bmw's) hold their gear until you push pedal to the floor and engage the passing button.
