Mine knocks regularly. It’s very faint and easy to miss. I would not describe it as popping. But yes I notice detonation when I transition from light load cruising and gradually begin to accelerate.

Theses trucks have little in the way of sound deading. Tight engine clearances and light weight oil yeah it’s gonna be a bit noisy...but last forever!

Any update on this? Mine has started a very loud knocking sounds from the driver side engine compartment. Dealership is calling in Toyota corporate to look at it. Knocking increases as the RPMs increase. Nobody seems to know the cause and now it can't be replicated.

Ever since 12 I've owned brand new cars, and the first thing I learned is ALWAYS TUNE THEM and run premium gas. Manufacturers are held by the balls by the EPA and other nasty hippie regulatory overlords. So they run their engines DANGEROUSLY lean from the factory to sip as little fuel as possible during the tree hugging douch tests. This is common knowledge. Even in my 370 nismo, my STI, my Cayman and my FoRS they all came from the factory running super mega ultra retard lean. Tuning it is the smartest thing you can do. And no I dont mean mass gain tunes, I mean conservative tunes that let the engine breathe and drink at it's most efficient. Unless of course you like predetonation ruining it prematurely.

I’ve heard of people getting new vehicles at the young age of 15 or 16, but a 12 y/o getting a new car is pretty cool. ;-)

    Thank you for your service!
