2016+ Tacoma Engine Oil Cooler

Hello everyone,

So i searched around the internet and i still don’t really understand how the engine oil cooler works with the 2016-2020 Toyota Tacoma . Looking at the front grill of the truck i see the ATF transmission cooler and power steering but as far as the engine oil cooler i am curious if it is a internal radiator in the engine block which uses the coolant to cool the oil. Anyway, i am just curious how it works. Thanks!! I do plan on purchased a aluminum oil filter for my Tacoma instead of the plastic one for durability and the small benefit of it cooling the engine oil as well since aluminum it great for dissipating heat.

 

The oil cooler is right next to the oil filter on the block and uses coolant. You only have it if you have the towing package.
