    Ok so no info on new taco motor. What is the possibility that it's the 2.0 turbocharger engine from the new Lexus?

    Any chance?

    I hear it's going to use VCW technology which varies the power depending on the load.

    VCW= Variable Cat Wheel :rofl:

    I don't think it'll be the dual vvti. I think it'll be something else. Either the 3.5 (boring) or something really cool like the Lexus engine.

    They are just pulling the hamster out of the blower motor and putting it on a gear reduction wheel under the hood.

    Thank goodness they're pulling the hamster out. The one in my brain is enough.

    It will be a naturally aspirated dual carbed V-8. Vroom vroom.

    My uncle is a engineer for Toyota and told me the new engine is going to be a 7.3 powerstroke!! It's gonna be so sweet!

    I know, that 2.0t has the same output as current engine but with mid to high 20 mpg. Sick!

    That would be way to close in power to a V6 option to be a viable base engine. Sorry to rain on your parade, but the base engine will have <200 HP. Just a guess but why would Toyota release a truck with a set of engines both in the mid 200 HP range and try to ask a premium for one of them?

    It'd be silly not to expect the same V6 that's offered in the Tundra/4 Runner/Land Cruiser. It'd be an "improvement" and the development costs have already been spent, it'd just be a matter of increasing production.

    I would be ok with that if they upgrade the trannys, both auto and manual.

    I would be real surprised here if they didn't release an 'all new' truck with the same drivetrain. Then, once all those who "buy new models just because they're new" sales have slowed they will introduce a new engine option to drive sales once again. I would love to see a 4cyl turbo option in the new truck and based on interior layout and available features I would seriously consider trading my beloved Tacoma in on one and starting over with the mod process. I doubt that's going to be the case though because manufacturer's like to hold things back when their vehicles are already top sellers. Why do you think we've basically not seen a new truck since they first generation Tacoma? They sell.
