    Hello all,

Looking for advice on an exhaust system to get the Taco breathing good! I currently have a K & N cold air intake kit ( rocks), my buddy and master tech spent some time programing, power comes on strong at about 2500 to 4000 RPM. My Bud is saying exhaust next. MBRP in all black single exit, Flow Master, Borla are what I see and they are priced from cheapest to most expensive in that order. Not looking for a dual exhaust system as that is just more stuff to bend up while off roading. It can't drone at highway speeds as I spend a ton of time on the highway. Around town with my foot slightly in it is another story! Any suggestions? Im ready to buy! THANKS!

    What'd your buddy program?
The K&N is just a noise maker, your truck comes stock with a CAI and the air box is off a tundra so it flows just fine.

My tech friend of 47 years disconnected the battery, had me hold the neg cable and the positive battery cables together, he was inside the truck with his lap top plugged in and was in there for a good 15 20 minutes as he did his thing. What that thing is, I don't know. After I pulled out of his lot and on the highway, this thing went!!!! It was my fist time driving it with the K & N intake kit, throttle body clean, fresh oil. So I have no base line on the just K & N. I was told to drive it like I stole it for the first 200 miles. I did, now 5000 miles later, this thing rips! And fuel millage is good, Now for an exhaust this week!!

The taco power band doesn't really kick in until over 3000 rpm. This is regardless of exhaust. If you want your truck to really drive better then get new gears. Exhaust performance will be negligible in comparison. If you're just looking for a deeper sound then go for it.

I have been in the automotive field over 18 years and years before that I was a certified Mercruiser tech and motorcycle / jet ski tech. My buddy qualifies as a master tech, better a master tech then a master.....Oh never mind ( lol )

If you were holding the battery cables together, how was he programming anything when there was no power?

We actually have Toyota techs (and other marquees) on this forum. If it was that simple, everyone here would know about it and the tools needed to do it

Therein lies the root of our doubtfulness.

@St.Germain will have a good exhaust configuration suggestion for you though.

    It didn't.
But if he can tune the tacoma, which almost no one can, he could make a fuck ton of money, because right now theres only 1 person who can....

Beats the heck out of me! Once battery cables were put back on he was still doing his thing for a bit...Ill ask him exactly what he did when he installs my exhaust IF I get feedback on that, would appreciate it...
