ATTENTION: all with 6 cylinder Tacomas with automatic transmission problems: we need to come together to get our transmissions TRULY fixed. Toyota has admitted there is a problem with the AC60X transmissions in our trucks. However, Toyota corporate makes decisions based on numbers and statistics. Toyota told me there are not a lot of complaints about our transmissions. We need to help Toyota know we are out there, and we are having trouble with our transmissions. It takes numbers to get things done with global companies. Believe me, I a development engineer, responsible for global markets also. I know how big companies operate. Please, if you are having trouble with your automatic transmission, call the Toyota Customer Service number (800-331-4331) and let them open a case. Toyota is a very capable company, and they will fix this problem, but they must be able to justify the investment. Numbers talk.. Let's get together and help them have the numbers they need to launch the REAL fix to our transmission problems. Moderators, I ask you to elevate and support this thread so us 2016 Tacoma owners, and future 2017 owners, can get the attention that we need. Thank you.

Ya, I've always had it. Right after I had the TSB it was really bad the first 100 miles, then went back to 'normal' flare.

How would you describe really bad and normal flair? I am seeing a 1000 rpm jump before engagement.

Well, on my way home on the same route I have a stop sign, then go up a pretty large hill. At about 10 miles after the flash and after being on the highway, it flared 3 times in a row, in and out/back and forth with several seconds between the shifts from 3 to 4 back to 3 to 4 back to 3 to 4 (sorry, don't know how to better explain it). It was not slipping at all, just relearning I guess. It did that the next day at the same spot, then a few more days after that. Once I got over 100 miles on the flash, it stopped doing this and went back to the single short flare in the same spot. Seems like the more I push the gas, the more likely it is to flair hot or cold.

I will try to post some videos of what I am experiencing. Mine is very much like a slip between gears.

As said in other thread I have the TSB done and mine now flares between 2nd and 3rd pretty bad in the mornings but I can't recreate it 100%. Maybe every 3 times I drive it.

I know the Aisin AC60F is a new transmission, with reduced components, and I am wondering if there is some valve body/pressure issues in the transmission that is being covered up by an attempted 3-4 gear short shift (which most people are complaining about), and I think the flair is when the ECM/TCM fails to short shift 3-4 at certain engine loads. Hmmmmm.

Check out these videos. This should clarify the shift flair issue I am facing.

Ya, mine only did that at first and doesn't do it anymore really that I notice. What you posted is not normal, at all.

Do you all think I have an extraordinary case, or are some of you having the same issues as in my videos. I have just over 330 miles on the truck.

smitty99, did you submit a complaint to Toyota corporate? They need to know of this blunder.

I think Toyota pushed this truck out the door too quickly. I work in global manufacturing, and I know what can happen when you push something out the door before appropriate testing.... This in not the Toyota I remember. I regret my purchase, and corporate will know it clearly. I lost my faith in this company to deliver reliably products.

Every time I try to get a video of the shift flare it doesn't happen. So annoying.

Both of 2016's 4 and 6 cyl did/do the same thing, only on the first drive of the morning. My 2011 Camry, 2011 Avalon, 2013 Avalon, 2013 Venza, 2014 Tundra, and 2015 Camry all did a very similar, if not the exact same thing. I'm not sure if it revs up as much as that video, but it's definitely noticeable and slightly annoying. I have just chalked it up to it's a Toyota being a Toyota.

This may help. Make sure the car is dead cold, like overnight. Take off with about 25% to 33% throttle and no more. Catch it on video.

Be sure to register the complaint with Toyota corporate at 800-331-4331. we need to make sure Toyota is made very aware of this.
