Fold-A-Cover sent me an email tonight. It said that the part list was in error as was the first photo in the instructions. They sent the corrected photo. Apparently, I have all the correct mounting hardware needed.

The cover n mounting hardware look to be of the high quality. Tommorrow or the next day it will be installed.

I'm wondering if Toyota buys there factory covers from Fold-A-Cover?

Agreed, but for the price difference (I paid only $640 for the Extang) I can live without all the extra features.

Got mine on. Only took about an hour. I was not able to get the tailgate seal done, weather started to get cold then it began to rain. Driving in the rain, it did not appear to leak anywhere. Took it to the car wash later and it leaked, the seal on top of the tail gate got flipped in and leaked from there.

Eric - Thanks for the tech support photo.

Installed the Fold-A-Cover last night. Several problems remain. First and formost, the front part of the wind seal (nearest the cab) will not line up with the striker bracket holes when properly spaced. The rear wind seal-striker bracket screws mount near the center of there slot.
With the front part of the winds seal screws installed as widely spaceed as possible, the front section won't go down. So, now I dont have any of the 4 screws holding the front part of the wind seal installed. With screws installed at the end of the slot its to tight to go down properly.
I parked outside in the rain to test the cover. It leaks right were the rubber seal ends in the back, at the curved end piece of the wind seal.
With the tail gate up, the rear slam doesnt work. With the tail gate down, I can lift it at 45 degrees and drop it and it closes tightly as expected. Probably the rubber seals need time to settle into position to allow it to drop completely around the tailgate.

Next step is to measure the width of the front and rear panels.

I flipped my rubber seals on tail gate out instead of letting them curl under. Hasn't rained yet but suppose to tonight. I'll let you know if my added weatherstripping and rubber seals work. I do like the cover just have to tweak it a little.

I had some issues with the wind seal rail closest to the cab. I could barley get them far enough apart to close properly. I have them set as far out as they will go.

I moved the plate on the truck that holds the catch bolt up a little. That seemed to help. I did not move it much as I didn't want to create a leak there.

I have noticed leaks at the front where the top front bed rail does not need up with the side bed rails. And at the rear, but I have not sealed the tailgate yet.

No major leaks though. I also picked up a bed mat. It looks like any leaks should run under that to the drain holes.

Just had a very hard rain with high winds. Had two small (minor) leaks both on drivers side front and back corners. Passenger side was dry. Guess just a little more tweaking and all will be good.

Eric - Did you have a issues installing the front wind seals to the front striker brackets? In your photos the back wind seal mounting bolts are in the center of the slotting.
Right now when use the bolts installed on the front wind seal the panel doesnt open or close easily, it's too tight against the stiff rubber seals on the wind seal in the front. The back panel seems fine. Im just waiting for the rubber to form to the edges. I don't want the end of the panel to become trained "curled under".
I'm using a plastic tool to prevent the rubber on the ends of the panels from becoming curled under after I close a panel.
The wind seal need to go right to the end of the cover to be better watertight.
If the striker brackets had 2 mounting holes closer to the side of the bed that would be an improvement. I maybe asking Fold-A-Cover for striker brackets with additional mounting holes close to the edge then the current holes are. An inch would make a big difference.

If the front panel never opens easily, I certainly won't be buying there over priced $500 "bin"

The Fold-A-Cover looks functional, stylish and rugged.

In my original pictures I had things just roughy in the position they should be in. The back lid(tailgate end) opens and closes fine as does the front lid. I can drop either lid with just a little push and they lock down. The front and back weather seal I have laying out instead of curling under. I did have to make minor adjustments on centering the latch to the striker bolt on the front end. I do need to tighten the hinge clamp assembly as the top doesn't lay flat completely.
I really like their bin, but refuse to pay that much for one. I know it doesn't cost them that much to make.

Thanks for these posts! It will help me make an informed decision when get mine. I was going for the roll-up instead of the tri-fold only because I can strap it at the top of the bed closer to the cabin without compromising any bed space when I use it. Plus I won't have to take the whole cover off when I need to use the bed. I don't care about leakages etc... What do y'all think?

Although I haven't taken it off yet to use the full bed, the instructions say two bolts on each side and it comes off. After putting it on I can say they are correct. Just four bolts and it comes off. Not to bad to remove and the cover is pretty light. I like the security over the rolling kind as I will be keeping my golf clubs in it.

Did fold-a-cover have a response to this issue?

I got an email from them today. They are going to send out new windseal rails. No cost to us.

Ok Big Kev, what did you ask them and who are they sending this to, is this about the weather stripping not going all the way? If so let me know what they send you(if it's different or not).
