All, for those with 6 cylinder Tacomas, with automatic transmissions, that are still having transmission issues, I ask you to pull together, call Toyota customer service, and let them open up a case. Their number is 1 (800) 331-4331. Toyota is a global company, and they operate off of numbers and statistics. They need to know (with measurable numbers) that people are having problems with this transmission. Have a more accurate count of people having issues with the transmission will motivate them to dive deeper into the root cause of the transmission woes that many of us are facing here.

The OP is right, gearcrunchers has supported his findings about the shift flair seen on a cold transmission that will eventually cause premature wear.

Its been a problem with the 2nd gen where the aftermarket has developed a kit to correct. As of yet the 3rd gen is not supported with an aftermarket solution. Symptom seems to reduce as the engine gets to temp but in some cases, it doesn't go away but just gets worse.

I haven't had the symptom in my truck but the OP has a legitimate beef that Toyota or the transmission manufacturer should correct.

Honestly, I am just trying to help by fellow Tacoma owners that may be having transmission trouble and are losing hope. My truck is going to be fixed either way.

Then instead of littering, just join the other threads already in existence. It's only a matter of minutes before this thread is nuked from orbit (just to be sure) because you couldn't take 2 seconds to see the 10 other threads, same goddamn subject.

Hopefully it works out. I'm not gonna flame you like a lot of guys, I'd be upset if my truck wasn't working right either.

You should make Tacoma world administration approve new threads before they are created...

JS, you are right. My only purpose for this thread was to pull people together and get them to report the issue, so Toyota could have significant enough numbers required to motivate them into digging deeper into the issue. They never corrected the 2Gen transmissions, so how do we motivate them to correct the 3Gens..... By building a statistic by filing customer service cases at the above number.

I shouldn't have to MAKE anyone do anything. I would HOPE that people would read and abide by forum rules. However, I am not a moderator nor do I think I'm any kind of moderator oversight. I'm not even reporting it. A mod will eventually see it, render the obligatory "WTF, again?" and then the missiles will fly.

    Unsubbed.

If you want them to listen, give them feedback on consumer reports. Those get published so they will listen.
