Be careful with the fogs. Some housings use a soft plastic that can melt with too hot of a bulb.

 

Don't forget that boosting to 55W is going to drop the color about 1000K. So if you are going for a 5500K color with a 55W kit, you'll want to go with 6500K bulbs, otherwise the color will be on the yellow side

 

They are the same bulbs as the stock low beams. I figure they can handle the 35w kit

 

So what's the verdict on the 35w vs 55w

Can we run the 55w kits with out causing damage to the housing?

I'm going to order the DDM ultra kit but am trying to decide between the two?

Also 4500k or 5500k matches the factory drl light better? What do you guys think

Well I went to put my kits on tonight. One of my ballasts are bad. We will see how good opt-7s customer service is

 

I had a bad ballast in mine. Well... it would sometimes work. I emailed them and had a new ballast at my door in just a couple of days. They were great for me.

 

It flickered a couple tInes. I swapped them and it followed. I emailed them. Havnt heard back. So far I'm pretty happy with the kit that's working, and the one fog that's working lol. This is my 1st 55w kit. Tonight I'll take it out and see how she does.

 

They replied within 24hrs of my email and had the replacement part on the way right after. I didn't do HID fogs cause I didn't want to really blind people. I went with 35w lows for the same reason. I get much better light than the stock halogens from them.
The 55w should be super bright for lows. The way the headlights are designed may stop the blinding light from the lows, so that will be good. The fogs are probably going to be pretty bad to oncoming traffic though (I am assuming you meant you are doing HID fog and head lights)
After replacing the ballast that wouldn't always power up, I put in the Opt-7 harness to get the lights off my stock harness, which seemed to boost their performance a bit too.
I assume you already are running a separate harness with 55w though, right?

 

Yeah I got the harness for the lows. I don't run my fogs much, mainly in fog,dust,snow. Also when I'm on a back road (have a lot here in oklahoma). My lighting is always way overkill. I'd rather have more than I need when I need it, than not enough. 80% of my driving is late at night.

This is my 1st 55w kit. And like I said I may or may not keep it. From the little time I spent last night messing with them, they seem super bright, but not blinding until you get REALLY low on the truck. We will see. For the money I spent on the kit, I'm not too worried about swapping systems until I find what I like


I also went with a 3k heat for the fogs. So not quite as bright with the yellow

 

i just ordered a DDM Tuning Plus 35w 4500k kit. cant wait for it to come in!

These will pair nicely with my PIAA LP530 Led lights.

Does anyone know if the DDM H11 bulbs are H11 or H11b's?

I ordered from DDM through Amazon

 

I think the ones I got are regular H11. I don't even notice any line from the wire people talk about.

did you install a relay with your HIDs?

does your kit have the canbus?

I called DDM and they said i needed it but i ordered the regular kit with out it...

 

Our trucks don't need canbus. Highly, highly recommend harness as, depending on your ballast, you may draw enough current during the warm up cycle to blow fuses.

 

I did install a relay. Opt7 sold one for like $7 that works perfectly.
I did not go with canbus. As far as I know, they are not necessary on tacos. Mine is standard non canbus, and I have seen no problems.
I went with cheaper stuff- all Opt7. I got 35w HID lows and LED fogs for under $65. Your system will probably be nicer than mine.

what relay harness do you have or recommend?

 

I have also heard some people saying it did more damage to the system than just fuses. Hearsay though...

I went with diode dynamics heavy duty harness. It's a bit overkill, but this is one area not worth skimping on IMO.

Do you have any pics of how you wired in your harness? Direct to the battery? Grounded to?

 

Battery harness has a power accessory bolt and ground went to the ground strap by the battery. Search for hyluxtek and you'll find my thread with pictures.
