I was looking at an aftermarket air intake with an extra piece that probably could be attached to the scoop for ram air effect. Not sure how water is dealt with tho.... I could see an issue with a heavy rain an no way to close it off.

I was talking with Dry617 and he said, "The hood and scoop components were around $675 from the dealer. Paint was $300, and I did the install myself. It was super simple."

    So that's one example....

Just got a quote from the dealer:

"Yes, we would be able to order it but it would take several weeks to get in and they come unpainted. The price for the entire hood is $724.76 plus tax. Let me know what you think."

FWIW I just called a random body shop I've worked with in the past. They said they can order everything from Toyota except for the "Hood Intake Vent" piece as that it not yet available from Toyota for repair shops. They quoted approximately $1550 OTD. Yikes!

I desperately need to find some strange TRD Sport guy who wants an Off Road hood in the PNW. I know, I know..."Good Luck."

Dents in roof from poorly loaded canoe. Broken side mirror from blown transfer truck tire. Scuffed up front bumper from thinking I was still in a corolla. Graham cracker embedded upholstery from a crazy kid.
When I got my sport I was skeptical of the non-functional hood scoop, but I must say that it has grown on me. I quite like it now... even when it does decrease my visibility.

The dealer had limited in stock and was ready to give a decent deal but love the hood scoop so booked the sports last month. Well, another 3-4 weeks of wait

I saw that too. The CAI was $400+ and the added hood scoop was, if I remember correctly around $120. Ooops. The one I was looking at will be coming out from AFE but the added scoop sits somewhere in the grill area.
