So I just got my 2016 Tacoma 4x4 TRD sport (Blue), 6 speed manual. The car was made on 11/26/15 and I picked it on 12/10/15. Looks great, drives great (my first truck and toyota), dealer (Koons Tysons Toyota in VA) was amazing - all great things.
Anyways, when I pick it up I notice that the rear bumper was not aligned correctly (looking at gaps on each side between the bumper and the body of the car). They take it in and come back saying that they will have to replace the whole bumper (manufacturing issue or something like that). No big deal or should I say some deal (at least for me). We get all paperwork taken care off and they order the new bumper.
I get home and leave the car running and hear some weird noise from under the hood (40 miles on the car at this time). Comes on and off. I record the noise and send it to the dealer. They came back with possible issue with high pressure fuel pump. I am scheduled to bring the car back on Monday (12/13/15) to take care of everything (not the dealer's fault here, but seems to me like a QC shortfalls at the plant).
I am just concerned that this vehicle is already having issues with almost no miles on it. Any thoughts from the experts here?

No not really. Cant really hear it once you increase RPM (or it goes away with higher RPM, not sure). Cant hear it at all inside of the truck. Freaking brand new truck. Was expecting more from Toyota. Also, it does not help that the truck was made on Black Friday (according to the dealer).

Definitely not normal and first time I've seen this issue reported. Almost sounds like a vacuum leak.

Best of luck and report back once they find out the issue.

Mine sounds like that also I just figured it was the sound the Atkinson V6 makes. Now you all have me concerned if some of you are saying your engines don't sound like that

Mine does that noise for a minute on start ups but then shuts off, like if something either engages or disengages but goes away after a minute of running.

    None needed.
It sounds like the fuel injector solenoid and if I'm honest it doesn't sound bad. This truck has a duel injection system; it wouldn't be a difficult fix.

Sure, but my expectation is that you will have read the entire manual by the time you get your truck (or within 40 miles like the OP has on his truck). Otherwise, I'm calling you out. :D

OP, I would look over the bumper and under your truck and see if there's any indication the rear bumper got hit in transport.

I have this same loud ticking. Sometimes there, sometimes not. I figured it was the injector cleaners. I have not worried about it. I'll be following this thread just in case it's something else. Mine is a manual as well.

@nevadabugle - How do you like the first at second gear? Are they little sluggish or is it just me?

Anyways, I am going to see the dealer on Monday afternoon. They are giving me a loaner and I am leaving the car overnight. Like I said, their service director did say there is definitely something going on as far as the noise goes (he watched the same videos).
