So far, just a Hard Hat tonneau cover. Looking for mud guards and nerf boards.
Any 0w-20. Mobil-1 is good, but, there are other options. New filter every time. They can be bought for around $5 to $6. My dealer offers a lifetime drivetrain warranty if the maintenance schedule is kept. Maintenance can be performed by any facility as long as mileage details are on the bill. Plus, they put nitrogen in the tires. There is only one place nearby to get nitrogen. Guess where? Yep, them. So when the tires need air, they will get air.

Whoa....What did they wash it with 2000 Grit sandpaper? .....Break out the orange Pad and the Porter Cable . I won't let the dealerships touch our vehicle's paint. That's one carwash?? I see the water spots too that will require a good cutting compound.

Every six months for me. I am following the Toyota maintenance schedule to a T. That means 3000 mile oil Changes

The manual states 10,000 when using 0w-20.

Yep, 1 car wash. I had just hit a pigeon with my bumper and its feathers were stuck on my grill so I gave in to the free wash. Lesson learned.

Figure I'll repair it and hand wash my self from now on.

I live in a rural area and have a well for water. Salt for me is part of the game in getting it dried quick enough. Dealership here in central texas did a good job detailing it though with no scratches prior to delivery. Probably just take it to them every two weeks and make them clean it :). I do need to spend this weekend waxing it though.

I figure I'll take my car in 5000 miles and let them do their thing then at 10k they can change the oil. No harm in asking them to not change the oil at 5000 if you don't think it needs it.

synthetic should be what is used for the life of the truck. i am doing like you, i will do it myself at 5K then they can do their free one at 10K. not going to let them know that i did the 5K myself they might try to get out of the 10K one. all they do at 5K is rotate tires and open the hood and give it the sunshine treatment, a waste of time but you have to get it serviced per the book to keep the warranty valid.

I wouldn't let the dealership wash my truck even if they paid me $300 to do it. I figure that's a fair price for 8 hours of work trying to fix the paint.

Yeah the repair will cost more for me since i have to buy the tool to polish it.

You guys think I could get the dealer to repeair it? I mean i bought a new car from them, and they hve a body/paint shop so I'm assuming they have the capabilities. I still haven't turned in the survey so maybe i can exchange a 10 survey for a polish?

Thanks. I am actually looking forward to my first oil change. I'll try to catch the oil on an open pan and take a magnet to it and post pictures on here.

So how is the dealership going to know if you qualify for a 5,000 mile oil change? Just make them do it.

Yeah, a buffer and the pads and polish will run you at least a few hundred bucks. And good luck getting the dealership to pay for a pro detailer to fix it... they probably think that's "normal" for a paint job.

Porter Cable orbital costs $150 Pads are cheap. Everyone who cares about their paint or fills chips should have one. Makes short work of paint correction,

Thanks for the link. So what, you put some compound and buff away? I mainly just want to get rid of the swirls for now. I plan to off road this truck and I already drive it quite often so it won't be a garage queen.

In spring, I am taking a 1300 mile road trip up to the PNW area/Canada. I already made a pact with myself that I'm going to get over the heartache when I get my first pinstripe.

You cannot do by hand what a random orbital buffer can do. Try all you want but you're not going to get near perfect paint by hand.

But if you're off roading and not looking for it to be a beautiful pavement princess then give hand polishing a shot.

Yep it's that easy......May as well claybar the truck first. Put some Meguiars compound on an orange pad and start in small areas with GOOD lighting I have LEDs in my garage. But the SUN is ok but I don't usually do my paint correction in the sun.

Detailer who does paint correction will charge more than a Porter Cable and a few pads. YouTube is full of videos on paint correction. The important thing is don't buy a non orbital buffer. Those can burn the paint. Orbital buffers are everywhere.

Learn how to do this and you won't fret paint issues going forward.

That video made it seem pretty straight forward. Thanks, always enjoy learning how to do stuff on my own.

Watch a few videos from good sources, such as Griot's or Showcardetailing.com before you start polishing with a r/o buffer. Once you watch for a while, you'll feel more comfortable using one. Basic principle is, start with the least abrasive pad/polish combination it takes to do the job. Do small area, take it out in the sun and check out the result. Didn't work ? Go up one pad or one polish level, try again. Once you find the right combo of pad and polish, do the entire truck. Then go to a very lightly abrasive polish and pad and go around again. Then top it off with a sealant or wax. Whole job takes maybe 6 to 8 hours including the time with the clay bar before you start. Well worth it to keep the truck looking brand spanking new.

I have no problem dedicating that time to my taco. Gotta build a rapport somehow:).

Thanks for the suggestions, I'll check them out.
