What are you other 6 speed manual owners getting. I wasnt aware when I bought this that it was only rated at 21 hwy. Not that I'm really bothered by it.

I got 20.2 on my first full tank. Couldn't calculate manually because that was the dealer fill up and they didn't reset the mileage.

Makes more sense to me why the auto guys are complaining about power though.Couldn't imagine it being geared lower.

I'm getting approximately 17-18 city and anywhere between 20-24 highway. This is with C rated BFG K02s. Returned from vacation back from Ouray, CO to Colorado Springs, CO and got 24.8 average across tank on the way home. I don't really have any complaints in the way of power. I knew there would be a big drop coming from my 2005 STi, but it hasn't been unbearable. I don't drive with a lead foot so my mpgs are probably a little better than average. On Fuelly, I sit around 20, but after my week of 4 wheeling in Ouray it dropped to 19.8.

Air dam , stock tires, rush hour traffic driving to / from work.

Also the Toyota computer is never accurate to match the odometer/liters (gallons) going into the truck. I've always seen better actual calculations compared to onboard calculator.

Do the manuals improve with a few thousand miles or is that an automatic thing?

Mines improving, but driving habits are getting better to. Coming from a boosted turbo car racing everywhere, I've slowed my roll a lot in the truck. Haha

I have 5500 miles on my TRD OR Manual. I average 19 mpg with an even mix of highway and city driving. All highway, and I mean real highway (75mph) I average about 18.5 to 18.7. Rural roads with few stops and an average speed of 50 to 65 I get about 22.

Oddly, my first tank after my 5000 mile service was the worst I ever had. I checked my tire pressure on the TPMS monitor today and it looks like the dealership deflated all four tires to 32 psi, which explains things somewhat. I never intentionally overfilled them before, but the truck came inflated to about 36 and that's how I ran it for the first 5000 miles.

It has been a couple years since my last manual so maybe that has a little bit to do with it but the computer is telling me 16.5 average and that was all city driving for 300 miles.

I've got 20500 on the clock, probably 800 to 1000 of that off pavement and the rest a 50/50 mix of city/highway. I've got an overall average of 18.5 mpg, the more in depth stats can be found here.

18MPG IF I'm lucky... gets better after a few K miles ... started out for me 14-15MPG.

Run tires @ 36psi... deflate/inflate when needed. Dealer will always set it when you are in for service just ask them to set to your specs when going in.

I've tracked every single tank on mine since new. Check my fuellie link below. Best tank ever was 19.5MPG. Factory suspension/ wheels/ tires with a Snugtop Rebel.

Interesting you mention the air pressure. Mine were filled to 32PSI at the dealership, and now that the temperature had dropped they were down to ~28PSI. I filled to 35PSI at my last fillup. I'm eager to see what the effect will be on mpg.

Honestly, I believe I could get close if I ran an entire tank on flat ground with no stops at 55mph. That's just not going to happen for me. In Texas, the highways are all 70-85MPH speed limits and city driving will take you to 17mpg. quick. With the gearing on the manual trucks, mileage drops off after about 55-60mph (~2000rpm). It's almost as if these manual trucks are geared for a slightly larger tire. I'll be going up to a slightly larger tire once I wear out the factory Goodyears.

    All stock setup for me.

On my daily commute to work (30 miles, typical speed between 70-80, a couple of hills), I normally get between 20-21. Spend most of the drive in 5th/6th, take one of the hills in 4th. I live and work maybe a mile from the highway.

Around town is a crap shoot. If I go up the road and back to get groceries or do stuff around town on the surface streets I probably get 14-15 at best. I typically sit higher in the gears though, I usually shift around 3k RPM, I'm not always trying to be at 1000-1500 RPM.

Overall average for me is around 18.5, currently ~6800 miles on the clock.

I'm averaging about 21-22 mpg in mostly suburban/rural driving, usually no faster than 55-60 mph. If I am on the expressway and maintain a steady 65, I do better and actually saw 24 mpg one. I try to drive with a "light" foot, usually.

Do you keep your mileage, or are you just going by the indicated mileage on the dash? I frequently see numbers like the ones that you report, but if calculated by the tank, it comes up short.

I don't have quite enough data points to make a good estimate yet but I seem to hover around between 20 and 20.5 MPGs.

The gearing definitely makes a huge difference between the MPGs of my 6MT vs what my buddy in his A/T TRDOR sees. His is much higher at speeds over 65 but I'd rather have the benefits of "better" gearing. I posted my MPG numbers below. Around the same time the break-in period ended, I removed the air dam and greased my u-joints (remarkable effect on rolling resistance). I also increased the tire pressure to 34 psi all around instead of what was prescribed on the door card (monitoring tire wear appropriately). My commute is a mix of highway at 65mph (see about 22mpg) and city (stop/go, see about 17mpg).

I'm sure I could squeeze out a few more but I wouldn't be having as much fun
