I came from a 2002 Tundra Access Cab and in fourteen years I never had to take it in for anything. The truck was absolutely bulletproof. So far, six weeks in, I love my 2016 Tacoma DC Limited and I expect similar reliability.

As for warming up you don't need to do that but it's recommended you let it idle for sixty seconds to allow the oil circulate through the engine. I could care less about the heater since I have heated seats and they heat up rather quickly :D

Well rub it in, already :C

On cold days when I don't warm it up, I sure do wish I had those heated seats.

Excuse my dumb questions, but does the atkinson engine make it so you cant accelerate faster or go faster for that matter? or can you install after market exhaust systems and intakes to improve Hp and help the acceleration and speed?

Nah. The "Atkinson Cycle" feature on the new taco is just basically an adjustment to valve cycles. I'm pretty sure all the standard performance mods apply, as the atkinson cycle bit doesn't even come into play until the engine isn't being taxed, like if you're cruising.

The Atkinson stuff is all a gimmick. I mean I am sure it uses a real Atkinson cycle and helps MPG marginally but obviously non-Atkinson motors are getting better MPG than the Tacoma out there.

This. The reality is, it's not even a true Atkinson Cycle, all it does is mess with the valve timing to adjust the size of the detonation in the cylinder in the spirit of the mechanical crankshaft Mr Atkinson designed back in 1882.

It's really no different than the variable displacement hullabaloo brought on when Cadillac introduced their V8-6-4 engine. Of course I think that Toyota got it right with a simple adjustment of strokes. *at least I hope so*

Now how do you figure that? The Cadillac disabled cylinders in an attempt to save fuel, which the Tacoma does not do.

I'm comparing apples to oranges here. I'm not trying to say that they are the same technology. I'm trying to say that the "hullabaloo" is the same. The gimmick of cutting power to save fuel has been around for a while and the two technologies are sort of cut from the same cloth.

The caddy killed cylinders to lower displacement to save fuel.
The taco decreases the stroke to save fuel. All cylinders are used, but smaller detonations.

The point is, it's a thought process that's been around forever, and Toyota's employment of the Atkinson inspired stroke appears to be a far better application of that school of thought. So far.

If you take the 2nd letter and put it at the end, it should make you feel better.
