I was always thinking that blue looks great in Sport. I have been spending lots of time on Inferno and QS colors as I have to make a decision quick. Currently I am leaning towards QS OR as you suggested.

Same here. If I needed two trucks, this decision would be easier. One of each :D

How about three? Inferno, Blazing Blue, and Quicksand (in OR of course).

Make it four......I'll still keep my Nautical Blue T4R.

I wouldn't take a blue for free. Don't like it. If it was a BMW LSB blue then yes, but not the current Tacoma blue..

I drive a 5 speed manual, even so it makes me wonder how much human effort it would have been for the driver to turn-off the cruise control and putting the transmission into S-mode while going uphill in that video.

By the way, I would think that resale value on 6 MT/3.5L Tacoma would be pretty good. I've always been able to sell my past vehicles on Craigslist on the same afternoon that I've posted the ad.

I think the new blue looks pretty good in person! I was impressed when I seen it and don't always like blue on a vehicle. 1000x better than that Royal blue or whatever they called it on the 2nd gens. That makes me want to puke

Call me crazy, but I think sometimes the color of the silver sky varies slightly. Sometimes i see them look kinda "bright" silver, and other times they look very nice "liquid' medium silver. I know that the color changes a bit based on lighting conditions, but I saw some photos where the cab didn't match the bed and one was lighter than the mother. Made me realize I wasn't crazy and that some silver sky trucks might be darker than others. I prefer when they look a shade darker, personally.

Yes! In a lot of pictures I seen it seems really bright. One I seen in person looked very liquid like you stated and it looked great. It looked darker and just had a beautiful flow. I think this is also a color that looks better in a sport. I'm a big fan of color matched flares and although I don't like driving with the "skewp" or that it's non functional, I like how it breaks it up a bit and gives it a bit more aggressiveness.

Also I think I've noticed the darkness or color variation in the quicksand as well. Unless with the OR it plays tricks on your mind. I've seen OR and sport in quicksand in person and it always seems lighter on a sport and I just don't care as much for it. I like how the black plastic breaks it up. Not sure if that is what is making it appear darker on the OR but it definetly breaks the color up and bring it out more in my opinion. But since I've only seen 1 quicksand OR in person I can't varify that they all look darker, but I've noticed in pics the sports seem to look a little lighter and it doesn't always seem to be a lighting effect

OR QS looks more manly (kill and cook your own dinner). OR Sport looks more sexy and sleek (take it to dinner)

It would need to be in s3 or 4 to not shift constantly . In the clip it's bouncing between 3-5
I was asked by Toyota to leave it in drive with the cruise set to document the constant shifting , On a long trip up a canyon the high temp light will come on and force you to stop for cool down.

My truck needs a new transmission and I guess they want it to completely fail before they fix it . I give it another 1000 miles But it will be somebody else's problem here soon enough

I always buy the sport version with the fewest cosmetic upgrades on all my vehicles. (2016 inferno orange Sport as of 5 days ago). You can get all the OEM parts at 25-30% off what the dealer charges to add them on. Why finance parts you overpay for?

I can say that the 2016 transmission is not very responsive and you feel a lag in auto shifts. The remedy is simply to turn on the ECT power button and that all goes away. A sacrifice of .5 miles per gallon is worth every penny of a better driving experience.

The first year of a new gen vehicle always has the most issues. Even though I have a 2016 and love it so far, history would say wait to buy a 2017 instead.

Ive tuned cars all my life, so hopefully some day theres a way to tune out the crappy trans shifts from the 2016s (can you even tune Tacomas??). July 31st the first CAI for the V6 comes out. Thats a must!

Well, you've definitely documented the shifting issue while using cruise control on that particular stretch of road.

My initial guess was that the road condition and the speed driven must have overwhelmed the capabilities of the software mapping for the electronically controlled transmission, especially when using the cruise control on that stretch of highway. The high temp light coming on is more than cause for alarm.

As mentioned above and at the very least, press the ECT switch and see how the truck performs on that canyon road. That will keep the transmission in its power mode and keep it from even attempting to shift into 5th or 6th gear.

IMG_8718.jpg IMG_8712.jpg This is my Silver, I wanted a different color at the time, I had a silver 2001 for 15 years, no way was I getting another silver :) they only had one sport on the lot, dealer told me "just take a look at it" then decide, guess he knew I would like it. The silver is different then my old one, happy with my decision! Good luck
