Keep in mind a lot is carried over too from the 2nd gen or improved upon.

I wish I was in a similar boat but unfortunately I've been barrowing a company car since I sold my jeep in early June. I need something sooner rather than later but I'm just not feeling the Colorado and I wasn't feeling the 38K price tag but I guess if I want a 2016 Sport TRD I better get use to that price tag.

I'm ok with the price hikes. For those costs I will get (based on Toyota's statements) new/improved things like a reworked/stronger frame, elimination of driveline vibration issue, dual climate, hand-operated emergency brake, blind spot mon, quieter cabin, strengthened tailgate, 8.75in rear end w/4.30 gearing, 6-speed auto trans, & a more fuel-efficient engine. Some of these items (especially the new engine & trans) are the exact reasons I'm now willing to seriously look at the Tacoma option when I wouldn't consider it before.

Look at the SR5 model as well. From what I'm seeing on the sheets it may be closer to the 2015 Sport than you think.

It's a range of -3 to +3. And you call me a pea brain lol

It's funny how the 2nd Gen owners are stretching so far to try and discredit the improvements in the 3rd Gen, that they are even trying to argue that $32k-38k is somehow 4 thousand more than $35k. Hahaha.

The fact such clowns don't like it (or claim to) makes me that much more comfortable in my liking of it. If the idiots actually liked the truck then I'd be second guessing myself.

Here's the idiot test. Do you agree or disagree with the following:

32k is 4 thousand more than 35k. True or false?

Despite the post of TENTATIVE prices, We don't know what the final will be until the dealerships can start ordering. Will the 2016 Tacoma be higher than the 2015's? Most likely. Toyota Tacoma have always been higher than their competition. Yet, people still purchase them.

That said, I was just on playing on the Chevy site. A colorado z71 crew cab short bed 4x4 is +36K to 38K. One dealer in the Phoenix area has a Z714x4 listed as msrp of 58K, The dealer has the vehicle listed on the internet at a sale price of 39K. Still high.

It won't be long before these price comparisons to the 2015 tacoma will be entirely irrelevant because you can't buy them.

It should be compared to the prices of other 2016+ models. That is what the pricing is designed to compete with.

This article was written about the cost of the Landcruiser, but I think it applies to the new Tacoma as well. Yeah, I could get an F-150 with better MPG for the price of a Tacoma, but the MPG is zero when they are broke down... We should rate vehicles by Miles Per Dollar and mean time between major breakdowns.

Im not accusing you or know much about the discussion between you and dirteater but alot of 3rd gen guys are pretty one sided biased towards a truck we know only a little bit about. As more and more comes out disproving alot of things its quick to jump on the 2nd gen guys are hating cause they want a 3rd gen bandwagon. Instead lets look at the facts, and in regards to prices comparatively its a $3-4k price increase over the 2nd gen, yes you get more gizmos and the new powertrain, but its still a significant price increase. I wouldnt hesitate buying a taco, but to say the 3rd gen is a better value and the price increase is negligible is silly especially given alot of parts are carried over from the 2nd gen or improved upon and we know little about actually performance specs. It could only be a 2-3 mpg increase. The 2nd gen is a proven platform so was the 1st gen given the track record the 3rd gen should be as well but is yet to be proven, its new. Everyone is entitled to their opinions though on what they like aesthetically, value wise, etc. Some people may want to pay the premium for the gizmos, others may not. Back to the point, there are valid points on the 2nd gen camp and 3rd gen camp and both groups have made silly statements, etc. Regardless its a taco, we are all supposed to be on the same team.

Where are you finding specs for the SR5? I'm a city girl who likes the option of off roading so things like the dual climate control, heated seats, entune premium etc are things that appeal to me.

Nothing is one sided at all about my comments.

Some dude said he paid 35k for his 2013 TRD Sport and was crying about the new prices of the 2016. I simply pointed out that the 2016 TRD sports range from 32-38k. Statijg facts that refute a claim isn't being one sided.

No worries, like I said I didnt accuse or read the discussion, just the last part about saying how 2nd gen owners are stretching so far to discredit the truck, there are a few that only bash, but alot point out things that 3rd gen fans are turning a blind eye to too.
