So do I. That’s something that came loose, like a bolt, and got chewed in the r&p blender.

I would think he'd have a good argument that the drivetrain should last for 60K+ miles not years. My first Gen Blew up the motor and it was out of the warranty period but the dealership helped work with Toyota to cover it under warranty.
They agreed that the motor should not "Grenade" itself with only 65K miles on the truck.
Because it was out of warranty, they covered all the parts . Only had to pay for labor and got a new motor.

I am here in Oregon. I called Toyota Customer Experience and asked if they could extent my drive train warranty time limitation since it is a catastrophic failure not normal due to wear and tear. It is in the shop now getting an estimate and lots of pictures taken which I will share. Hopefully Toyota will cover all the cost which I will share as well. Here is side view. Looks like there is some rubber membrane coating that is protruding out the hole, interesting.PPQY2701.jpg

Pretty sure that's the powdercoat on the exterior of the housing. The metal has "burst" from the inside out.

I've pulled my diff a couple times and that housing is all metal on the inside, no membrane.

The truck is still at the dealers and they are asking lots of questions regarding what I tow with the truck and why I have an air compressor mounted under the bed. Sounds like they are believing I have abused my truck when in fact I take very good care of my truck.

    Update
I have taken my truck to another dealer that was recommended to me as having better customer service. That dealer said the Toyota warranty reps have looked it over and are deciding if they will provide me a "Good Will" warranty extension to fix the issue. Apparently the cost to fix it is split between dealer and Toyota corporate. Now all I can do is wait and hope they have the Christmas spirit.

Has anybody else gone through the "Good Will" process and if so how did it work for you, any suggestions for me?

12/22/23 I called Toyota Customer Experience to ask about the "Good Will" process and they said the cost coverage is all handled on a case by case basis. All I can do now is be patient and keep the Whiskey close by for anxiety attacks......

Ford used to have a program (don't remember it's name) but when a vehicle was out of warranty and suffered a common known problem the customer or dealer could request this program to be applied. However the program was never advertised to the public that I know of. Basically the dealer covered the labor and the customer covered the parts and the MFG. did nothing. At least the cost to the customer was about 1/3 of what it would have been out of warranty. Your issue however is not normal, but it did happen after the dealer worked on it. Sounds as though the first dealer just does not want to stand behind it's work.

That was due to his wife pulling out of ice in a parking lot… dude wondered why his warranty was denied. Looked like someone used a .38 from inside the diff.
