I bought a '15 knowing the '16 would be all new. The 2nd Gens are now a proven truck just like the first gens. It will hold its value and it still looks amazing. No regrets. Its not like a ford or chevy, tacos look great new or old and keep their appeal.

They should do that dark brown leather interior on the Limited model, if that model continues like they have in the top trim Tundra. That interior is Purdy.

No way, the 2GR is also getting some age on it at almost 9 years now. Since when has Toyota ever taken a car engine and put it in a truck? They've done the reverse by putting truck engines in cars and changing the tuning.

My work truck which I 4x4 daily as part of my work is a FX4 Ecoboost. I can tell you one thing. Their advertised MPG is horse shit. On a level road (highway) in 2wd driving 70mph speed limit best MPG is 17mpg tops. I have also exceeded the break in so... (It is what it is)...

The GR engine was designed from the beginning as a truck engine. They modified it (2gr) for car applications back in 2005 but it still has many of the same characteristics, especially with DI. The VZ engine in the 1st gens was originally a car motor which was modified for truck duty. Toyota will tune the 2gr-fse for duty in the Tacoma. If it's good enough for a $50k Lexus 9 years later, it's good enought for the taco.

Damn those rear tails are ugly, one of my favorite 2nd gen design cues, are the way the rear taillights follow the rear bumper line/ cutout. I thought that was so clean and futuristic looking when it debuted in 2005. Still makes the rear of the 2nd gen look modern today compared to the rear of other trucks.

I hope they somehow carry that cue forward, but judging by the rear tailgate spy shoot it doesn't looked hopeful.

As an example, I liked the pre-facelift Tundra tails as well, and then Toyota ruined the tails and rear bumper on the refreshed truck. I expect the same on the 2016, but remain hopeful.

MMMmm, Mercedes 300SL gullwing. I had a chance to buy a nice '55 coupe for $110k back in 1998. Unfortunately, I wasn't the only member of the family that made decisions about spending that kind of money for a vehicle. I fucking knew it was a good buy, but alas.

Such a stupid response. Some people want a luxury truck, why else are fullsize Laramie/Lariet/Platinum selling like crazy. Not everyone wants a basic truck, and many buyers that want luxury still need a box.

The days of cheap basic trucks are over. Which is why Toyota dropped the regular cab, and now have AC/power windows and locks/touch screen stereo/backup camera as standard.
