    Let's talk about power train.
    who thinks they will stick with the 4.0 (current 4runner engine 270 hp) and who thinks they will go with the 3.5 direct injection (300+ hp).

    My personal opinion they will go with the 3.5 and 6 speed automatic and different ratios for the 6 speed manual.

    There is a good chance they will just get ride of the manual and there has been a lot of talk about a 3.5l v6

    Agreed, I think the grille is a bit too much for a midsized truck personally. I just hope thats a "limited" edition with all that chrome surroundings :puke:

    Would be better to go with a trd sport in that case and do a retrofit to get real bixenon projectors.

    So this jives with what most are saying;

    For reference:
    the 4.0 single VVT (1GR FE) makes 239 hp and 278 torques (on 91 octane)
    The 3.5 dual VVT (2GR FE) makes 280 hp and 260 torques
    The 2GR FSE 3.5 makes 305 hp and 278 torques

    The current 4-Runner uses a dual VVT 1GR FE that makes 285hp and 289 torques (on 91 octane)

    The motor that I was really, really hoping for;
    The 4.6 V8 (1UR-FE) makes 347 hp and 339 torques

    Ideally, I still think 340 torques would be about perfect for the truck. For those of us who actually tow and go up hills and live at higher elevation, this would make it the perfect truck. But we'll see how many torques they can squeeze out of the 3.5l

    More on the 2GR FSE http://www.ft86club.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=3868&stc=1&d=1326052791

    I couldn't agree more. It's amazing how much more power that 0.6 of a liter (600cc) gives you.

    I tow all the time but at the same time i also have to go into Philly all the time and its just not full size friendly so As much as id LOVE to see that (oh that v8 growl :yes:), I just cant see them adding a v8 option in this day in age with MPG's and fuel prices etc...

    Nailed it. Adding a V8 is the last thing they'll do. Turbos would also surprise me.

    Intake, exhaust, lift. Typical stuff.
    Its not so much the fuel prices. Its more to do with not adding competition to the Tundra.

    Yep. Most likely this, sadly. But the Tundra's are just so fsukcing huge! I live in a the posh, older part of town. Love where I live, but the houses are small, the streets are narrow, the parking is limited. We had a Tundra when we moved here and it sucked ass. The thing was just too damned big. It wouldn't even fit in my 3-car garage addition. The Tacoma fits in perfectly and can do anything I ask of it. I just wish it'd pull better, particularly uphill and at high elevation.

    I think people going goo-goo over the Diesel option have never owned one. It's not all that and a bag of chips. Servicing sucks.

    Plus, the 3.0 liter diesel in the Hilux makes only 140hp (253 torques). They kinda suck at freeway speeds.

    Where did you get your engine output numbers? By the way its torque (lb-ft) not torques:

    4.0 Liter V6 Dual VVT-i (4Runner): 270 hp, 278 lb-ft
    4.6 Liter V8 Dual VVT-i (Tundra): 310 hp, 327 lb-ft

    3.5 Liter V6 Dual VVT-i (Camry): 268 hp, 248 lb-ft

    4.0 Liter V6 Single VVT-i (Tacoma): 236 hp, 266 lb-ft

    Toyota already has an "updated" 3.5 liter V6, its found in the Lexus IS350:
    3.5 Liter V6 Dual VVT-i with port & direct injection (D4-S) (Lexus IS350): 306 hp, 277 lb-ft (91+ octane fuel)

    I'm sorry but torques is incorrect. It's torque. Or torqued, torquing but not torques.

    And yes there are many different units for torque:

    for example:
    lb-in
    lb-ft
    N-mm
    N-m

    And your right it doesn't matter if its lb-ft or ft-lb, for example, because it's multiplication. Distance x force or force x distance yields the same results.
