Looks great but I dread that 3vz in there.

Hey now, let's ease up a bit. A simple lapse of mindfulness is all.
Beautiful. But my question is what do you do with it? I wouldn't drive it, I would just leave it there. Forever. Like I said it's a beauty but if I had it I would feel guilty for doing nothing with it.

Toyota had a chance to hit a home run with the 2016 but all they got was a foul ball. Not really impressed. And no turbo-diesel....really??

Did you expect the Tacoma to be the first American Toyota vehicle to have diesel?

I wasn't surprised about the no diesel thing. Toyota is very conservative and likes to play it safe. Just look at the changes on Gen3, it's basically a Gen2 refresh with an ugly front end.

x2 on playing it safe but that's why the gen 2 is so awesome. They knew everything worked when they put it in. Try finding that in GM.

Jon how much do you wanna bet GM never outsells the Tacoma as long as it lives?

They "beat" the Tacoma to cylinder shutoff and that was a cluster:censored:. Don't you know the first kid in class to turn in his test is either a genius or doesn't know what the hell he's doing? GM has proven it isn't the former by it's recalls and products.

I think it's hilarious when the GM fanbois start saying how the new midsizes are gonna finally wreck Toyota/Tacomas.

Its true. Less electronics to break when you submerge the cabin in water up to the seats. Lol. You think I'm kidding, but I'm not.

Now that's funny lol. Brand new 2015.

Although reading through the thread, apparently that engine is pretty standard and hasn't changed, so he just got the shit end of the stick on that one. If that happens more and more, then yea, way to go GM.

Trucks keep getting more and more complicated. I'll be holding on to my 2012 6spd. It's not exactly simple but it seems a lot more simple than this thing. The 2016 is going to come with even more crap I don't want. Not to mention this thing is fugly.

Frankly, yes. Toyota is already hyping their fuel cell technology.

I thought the engineers explanation about why they wouldn't do a diesel in the states was pretty sound.

    You can read it here.

    Excerpt:
“Diesel, from a fuel economy standpoint, is about a 30 percent improvement right out of the box,” Sweers said. “The downside to diesel is the emissions has to be certified at the same level as a gas engine. So the way to do that is you have to put on an after-treatment system. The after-treatment system is very expensive [and] it adds $3000 or more dollars per vehicle cost. So if we consider that cost, versus the fuel economy improvement, and the fact that diesel is $1 more per gallon more than gasoline, is there a return on the investment? And the fact that as we move towards the future and we get past 2017 and then 2019 [emissions] regulations … can you make that diesel survive? So is it a two-year engine? Is it a four-year engine? That’s the question. From an investment standpoint, it’s very difficult to show a return on that investment.”

I wonder if gm is going to want to put extra rnd to make there diesel in the colorado up to emission standards in the future. Who knows the, diesel might only be a 2-3 year engine. :notsure:

And I read the comments on the Colorado blog. 7 to 10 days to replace the motor? Anyone want to bet he gets a rebuilt motor not a "new" motor? I wouldn't be very warm and fuzzy about that truck.
