2016 Tacoma social media leak

I wouldn't enjoy that. But the Tacoma and 4Runner have both had face lifts without a new generation. This looks to be a new generation and therefore new power plants.

 

Btw the "carryover" engine for the camry is just because it's still the same generation.

 

In other threads there have been posters that have been credible in the past posting that there will be a new 3.5 V6 coming with the new truck. So I can give credibility to tashcomer. I just hope the new engine and whatever technology comes with it is reliable for off road use.

I would gladly take current drive trains with an improved frame that doesn't fail in six years.

I'm gonna stick with second gen for now. Let someone else buy a 3rd Gen and deal with the issues of a first year new generation lol. Will just wait until the 2016s are on the lots and then get a rad deal on a 2015. Pow.

 

Actually the 4 banger did change in 2010. 2002-2009 had the 2AZ. 2010 and newer have the 2AR.

 

Is this to replace the 4.0 V6? Or replace the 2.7 I4?

 

It's actually quite a bit more advanced and has a higher specific output than the 1GR. (at least the Tacoma version) The article details it at length, that's why I posted it.

 

Fuck, let's hope that's not the final design direction. That's just awful. EDIT: wait is this a Hilux?

I agree with you there. Actually the 4runner version is probably pretty close efficiency wise to the Pentastar. But for some reason Mother Yota has withheld the DVVT 1GR from the Tacoma. Guess we'll just have to see what direction they go.

 

I highly doubt it. Ford has been the only company dumb enough to put turbos on a gas burning pickup.

 

So the smaller V6 gets similar power/better power and better efficiency? I haven't heard of the 3.5 thing before.
