I never had opportunity to listen to a JBL system installed in the Canadian Limited edition of the Tacoma however I have read mixed reviews of JBL across the board audio systems. I think doing a fresh, clean upgrade will be much better and then tweaking the system. I will let the professional installers recommend which way is the best to maximize sound quality.

I agree, The JBL sucks. I had it in my '08 TRD OR stock and it's nothing special...

I was talking about listen to some aftermarket speakers. They are all not created equal... and everyone has their own opinion.

Chances are the installer does not have your ears... so just "letting them install" might not be your ideal sound quality.

    I know how that is.

So many things to do, but the GF continues to cut funding like a Flint, Michigan bill in congress...:(

    $6,000 FOR THAT?

Mine is a 2nd gen, but still that is crazy high! If you do work yourself you can get alot more for your money. The first day I brought mine home from dealership brand new I got the grinder out and cut out all the crap under and behind the rear seats. Installed LUNAR 2200 amp for lows, LUNAR 100 for mids, and LUNAR 450 for hi's, 3 farad capacitor and ripped out the Toyota Nav and installed the Lexus Fujitsu NAV with Sirius module, polk audio hi's and mid's, ran 2ga power and ground with 90amp fuses, built custom box for behind the backseat and put 2 kicker solobaric 2ohm DVC (the square ones that only need 1 cubic ft of air space) and all total was only about $8,100! (for parts only)

If you are not familiar with Fujitsu or LUNAR, google is your friend :) But $6,000 for nothing? That is way high!

I listened to the premium JBL sound system for the 1 hour and 38 minutes it took me to get from the dealership to my house and tossed it all in the garbage can. It is junk! I just could not get the package I wanted without it :(

... with the same speakers though? Have you built a system before? There's certainly a difference at the expensive range but the system i'm thinking of doing is less than $1500 CDN and will be pretty great, far better than the JBL system in the limited with options to expand later.

Leather is not included in any Toyota package. Leather is installed by dealer. I wanted specifically Sport Package #2.
