    1. Hey Guys,

The needles on both my Tachometer as well as the speedometer will “Tic Toc” back and forth like the seconds hand on a watch. If I accelerate they will tic up and when I brake for a light they will tick down. I have videos of what is going on posted to YouTube.

I am taking the truck to the dealer hopefully this week but just thought someone has some insight on this.

Yeah that's a problem. Would definitely drive me crazy. I'm sure they will get it fixed. Just weird that it's the tach and speedo

My speedo did that once when decelerating, but hasn't happened again.

I noticed mine doing that a week or so ago but I thought my eyes tricked me and just forgot about it. This morning it did that all the way to work (15 miles) so I'll see what the dealer says...

    looks to be either :

    1. bad sending unit
    2. bad receiving unit
    3. loose connection

I've seen that before on a temp gauge, you could tap it to either go back to center, or drop to bottom of the scale :)

I've had the same issue intermittently since I got my truck about a month ago but haven't had a chance to take it to the dealer. Interested to hear what others find.

That's kinda what I thought, as long as the truck is still under warrantee right? I just heard back from my sales rep and he confirmed that this will be taken care under warrantee. Now just to see when I can get in. I would love to know what the issue is here and I would be happy to report back to you guys.

    From wiki:

"Technical Service Bulletins, or TSBs, are recommended procedures for repairing vehicles. They are a form of diagnosis. Not to be confused with recalls, a TSB is issued by a vehicle manufacturer when there are several occurrences of an unanticipated problem. TSBs can range from vehicle-specific to covering entire product lines and break down the specified repair into a step-by-step process."

^^ This. TSB is just how to fix it. Who pays for the work is a whole different story and depends on warranty status, recalls, etc.

If you're under warranty, TSB's are covered! And OP is definitely under warranty!

Ok Cool guys thank you. This is the first new truck I bought so being under warrantee was new an option to have TSB's looked at so with this new truck I keep forgetting that the warrantee will cover those...lol

My truck is at the Toyota dealer as we speak and sure enough now it's not doing it... I did give them the videos and the link to this thread. The text working on my truck now is going to open a case with Toyota and we will see what's going on.

Anyone else experiencing this issue and if so, did you get an answer/solution?

So the conclusion to this issue was that it could either be "cluster" (cannot remember what Tim, my tech, called it) or the communication between the ECM and the cluster that could be the culprit. They did open a ticket with Toyota and mentioned that so far I am the only one experiencing this issue, but it was too intermittent to fix right away. I had one of 2 choices, 1) leave the truck there for an extended period of time so the techs can drive it to see if they can replicate the issue or, 2) keep driving the truck till it's more consistent and then bring it back. I opted for number 2. My service tech also assured me that now that it's in the system, even after my warranty expires, they'll still take care of me. So now I am just playing the waiting game to see if it completely breaks then I'll take the truck back...

Just thought I would share my findings, and if anyone else found a solution to this please share! Tim said he will be keeping an eye on this thread too so hopefully someone else already has a diagnosis....
