It happens so freaking infrequent and when it does it corrects it self so quick that it will be hard to get the dealer to see that. Did you show him my videos? It might be worth finding a dealer that is willing to work with you and leaving your truck there for them to figure it out. Don't let the dealer pawn these issues off on you. They take many chances with us and if they keep doing that to you call Toyota directly.... I am so sick and tired of dealers sticking their heads in the sand and treating me like I am a freaking idiot. I am so glad I found this dealer, they are the only truly great Toyota dealer in probably the whole Denver metro area.

i did show them your videos but i cant trust them to even change out anything on my car if they don't have a builtin from Toyota that tells them what to do. these guys that work there are no mechanics, they get a builtin it tells them exactly what to do step by step otherwise they are clueless. until i find a dealer that shows me that they have qualified mechanics that does the work i cant trust them. i think if i leave my car with them they gonna go play with the crawl control for a bit and then tell me they cant find a problem.

Speedo problem related to low transmission oil, for sure if you have tow pakage, most are a pint to a quart low. Dealer did not want to check at 5k check up, I insisted it was a pint low, I have TRD 4x4 w/tow package.

I just got my truck back from my dealer. They swapped out the cluster unit and no issues so far on the 40 mile drive home.

are you saying it is normal to be a pint low on a 4x4 with tow package!? i thought they suppose to check all the fluids at 5000 service!

And if it is low, is it ok to top it off?

Don't know if you can top it off, I understood that the new transmissions are a sealed unit and it take special tools to maintain it. They only checked mine because I requested them to do so. After they top it off it corrected the speedo tick and the 1 mph it was off.

Any of you guys had this issue?

60 and under it doesn't seem to do this, but at 65+ the analog speedo reads 1 MPH slow.

My analog gauge is about 2 - 3 mph slow compared to the digital at 70 mph.

Edit: The digital readout is the correct speed.

Hey, i am from colorado also and i just had this happen to me today.... I was driving back from Lonetree and the speedo was ticking... then all of a sudden, i was stopped at a stop light and it said i was going 70MPH... when i accelerated, it went up to 140mph.... the only thing that reset it was when i shut the truck off and the needle finally went back down to 0. I took it to Ehrlich Toyota of Greeley and they told me that this is the first time Toyota has heard of the problem... which i guess is not true, judging by these posts. I will be sure to show them this video. Before i saw this post, i told the dealership that i think that it was the cluster that is messed up. They took 3 hrs trying to diagnose what the deal was and finally gave me the 2 options... of course, i took my truck. Shipwreck, shoot me a message and we should exchange numbers, i want to see if the new cluster really helps you, and i can also refer my dealer to yours!

    Yeah me too.
Only flaw I've found on my 2016 so far besides the shitty MPG and I'm picky.
Not a huge issue - However, I can forsee a day in the future where that nasty OCD gene rears it's ugly head over it

Mine started doing this Ticking thing today on the freeway driving home from a Bird Dog Trial. So annoying. I do have the tow package and suspect my trans fluid is low--not sure if that has been proven as the cause yet. Have not yet read this entire thread.

Bought my 2016 TRD 4x4 Off-Road 4 days ago and did not notice the problem until I filled the gas tank up for the first time. The tach and speedometer both started jumping around and the speedometer had a minimum 5mph bias to it, even at a stop.

Curious if the ECU's computations are messed up after the tank is filled, assuming it knows when the tank was filled due to the label, "Tank average fuel economy" and such.

I see InfernoTaco87 has the empty fuel light on? Possibly also messing with the software?

I'll have to start paying attention to this. I noticed the last couple nights on my way to work that I'm arriving later than I usually would, and I hover right around 50mph. I'm getting here about 3-4 minutes later than I did before, and I'm leaving at the same time.
