2016 Tacoma Tailgate Retrofit on 1st Gen

    It’s almost completed , I wish we had the room to put the 2016 tailgate handle as well but the door is just too thin, just waiting on the NEW intérnals to come in so I can install it.

    This has been done before and it takes a lot of work and sanding. My body guy likes when I bring my projects to him, LoL!

    Man, that's cool as hell!

    I'm assuming he ripped the lower skin on the 2015 gate, and sectioned it into the old gate. The sheet metal on these trucks isn't exactly thick, so I'm sure welding that in was a fun task!

    Isn't this tailgate off a 3rd Gen 2016+? This is going to be a sweet project.

    Yes , and it was not easy , but this body shop guy has over 30 years experience and have fabricated parts in the past. He sure knows what he is doing.

    Yes , my mistake it’s a 2016 and it was not cheap as the ones that have the word “TACOMA” are OEM tail gates , the aftermarket ones do not have it.
