Distracted driver. Ugh. As a motorist, that pisses me off and as a motorcyclist it worries me. Why there isn't a real public push to eradicate distracted driving like there was for drunk driving still perplexes me. Thankfully no one was killed.

    But I digress.....

My vote is for another Tacoma if you need/want a truck. If I had to do it over again, probably a cement colored OR AC. Pro is awesome but like you, don't really want leather. I think if you buy something else you might be disappointed after the Taco, but definitely test drive what appeals to you.

Ouch ! Take your time to decide and I hope all are fine . Curious as to why you have to have a smart key . I know I always forget to have the key out when getting into the wife's car and its just the pain of being spoiled , but I do not have to have it .

Anything you would want to have changed with your old Tacoma? If not, I'd get the same truck. I will say you get more room with a 4Runner in the back seat. That might be good for your kid. But I have 2 and it's not a big deal. I love all the cargo room. Stinky fishing tackle, muddy boots, and wet dog go in the bed. I thought about a 4Runner for the rear room, but the bed is just too useful.

so without a smart key, i always grab the keys to unlock the car, put them in my pocket, sit down, seatbelt on, then have to struggle to get the key out of pocket to start vehicle. i grabbed a 2006 prius many years ago as an extra vehicle and was so happy that i never needed to get keys out again i just got used to it...actually sold my tundra because of that and ended up driving the prius all the time. lol...
my wife also got used to it and made sure to have it so we got her an RX350 ..spoiled hahah

    Need? Or want?

    Yep.

Have you looked at the Ridgeline? Pretty plush.

Relative to the accident, glad you are ok.

The new Ranger is supposed to have much more legroom. Exactly how much, I don't know, but when I look at the AU Ford site, it's 3" MORE than the 4Runner (!!). That's pretty significant. The F150's have gobs of rear room. If you can swing a full size, your kid and wife would be in paradise.

They're awesome for family outings, road trips, etc. Parking and every day errands, not so much. Since you need a truck right now, I'd get an '18 Taco and not worry about the upcoming Ranger. As nice as the Canyon is, I wouldn't even bother.
