    Hi,

Is there a real fuel filter in the 2016+ 3.5 L Tacoma fuel tank in addition to the sock/screen/strainer? If one exists, what is the filtration in microns? Is it a larger capacity/ longer lasting than the typical cartridge filter?
Thanks to AFMurse for sharing the pictures & your experience- and especially for serving. Perhaps in your parts (pictured) a filter can be identified? It looks like contaminants bypassed the filter in this case? Jeff listed a filter in his parts breakdown?
It would be good to see Desertdogtrainer's installation of an inline filter? Coming out of the tank 1 line goes straight forward and inboard/right, while another Tee's into it above tank and goes forward middle. Is this a return line? The outboard/left line is bigger and may be a canister line? Would a filter on the inner line intercept all fuel?
My interest here is not academic. Have a 2017 Taco. I often drive in Mexico, where fuel delivery system can be compromised, to put it politely. I have had to replace a fuel filter several times on a 1st Gen Taco (under drivers side floor) given power loss/stalling under load. It isn't hard to do, and a lot better than dealing with downstream damage.

(I notice that Toyota sells the Taco 3rd gen in Mexico along with the Hilux with a 2.7 engine. http://www.toyota.com.mx/ vehiclos tab )

Thanks to all for your contribution re this.
    Regards,
    Jay

It's part of the fuel pump.
