I have a 16 TRD sport a couple of week ago my hood unlatch on the highway. Thank God the secondary latch kept it from flying off. I was able to closed it and a this past Tuesday it happen again. The hood latch is good no corrosion on it and everything move freely. My local dealer had both the tension springs so I've replace that and haven't taken the truck on the freeway yet. The cable also look good and move freely. Anything I should take a look at?

The hood still unlatch after replacing both tension springs. Well I ended up replacing the whole latch assemble. While replacing the latch I decided to take a better look at the cable. And found that it move back and forth but not as far as it suppose too. I pull it with a plier and found some rust like 2 inches long. I ended up replacing the cable today. I held the hood up 6 inches and let it drop and the hood latch fine. Before it would sometime latch but unlatch when I yank on the hood. Hopefully this will help out the next person having trouble.

Just lube it up good, latch and cable. Make sure when you close it. Drop it the last 4" to 6" DON'T just let it down easy, and push it closed.

Thanks! I'll lube it this weekend. I just ordered another latch from Toyota and will swap it out when it get here. This has me stump since everything is clean and move without any issue.

Yes, it was closed. I drove the truck through some bumpy roads around town and it's fine. It only unlatch while driving on the highway.
