Spot on. This truck IS big. Initially I never even considered a Tacoma because I had recollections of the 1st Gen (in size) and there was no way I could use a truck that small. I was coming from a 3/4 ton Dodge diesel quad cab, so I started looking at 1/2 tons as a replacement.

After getting over the initial gag reflex at the sticker prices on domestic trucks I decided to try a Colorado and then a Tacoma. Frankly my wife and I were shocked at the amount of room available in the Tacoma. You are spot on- this Tacoma is almost the same size as a full size truck of days gone by, like a F100 in size.

How funny, that was my very first car...down to the T. Loved that push tranny with the parking lever. The 318 had no balls, but sure was bullet proof.
    MOPAR or bust!(for classics)

Twice!?! That's brutal! After I got over the shock of seeing my brand new truck with dents in pretty much every panel except for the doors, I took a drive through the parking lot and saw that I was far from alone. Gotta get my claim in early. The dent repair places are going to be hopping for awhile. Want to get this taken care of sooner than later.

Still a big improvement than the current one with the rust-through rocker panels.

I don't have many miles on the young lady(320), but so far I would buy mine again without a doubt. I got exactly what I wanted minus color, the black as a color wasn't a deal breaker, it just wasn't the blue or inferno i wanted.

The truck is the right size, drives great, consistently gets 23 mpg and has zero rattles, but there have been too many issues during my 10 months of ownership:

    - Noise from Atkinson cycle engine is terrible. Sounds like a sewing machine at random times (yes it has been checked by 2 different dealers and was told this is "normal").
    - Low end torque is not there like it was on my gen2 4.0 engines
    - Transmission delay (enough said)
    - Rear end noise. Dealer cannot resolve.
    - Crankshaft position sensor failure left me stranded
    - Driveshaft assembly replaced due to ujoint squeaks
    - Radio replaced (would shutdown randomly)
    - Rear shocks replaced due to oil leaks.
    - Front struts replaced (bouncy ride and worn out at 35K miles)
    - Harmonic resonance in the steering wheel at 50-60. Dealer cannot resolve. Dealer indicates that vibration is normal for these trucks.
    - Radiator replaced due to seepage around lower hose connection
    - Other than these items, the truck is great

Wow, is there not a lemon law coming into affect. I'm sure the new tacoma's are great, but to be constantly plagued with gremlins.

Qualification for the Texas lemon law in not very consumer friendly. See all of the "and" statements below from the Texas lemon law excerpt below.
      • Two times for the same problem or defect within the first 12 months or 12,000 miles, whichever comes first, and

      • Twice more during the 12 months or 12,000 miles following the first repair attempt and

      • The problem is still not repaired.

    Sooo!
You bought the wrong truck for the job from the get go, and now you’re covering your A$$ by saying 'things changed' yeah right!

In reality, now we know the real truth behind you bashing the truck, so yeah I nail them as I see ‘em, and you just got nailed!

    LMAOO!!

    Hope that helps
    Cheers!

I think most attorneys have better luck chasing ambulances than Toyota Tacoma, just saying...:D

    Hope that helps
