Holy hell! All those problems by 40,000 miles?! That's like an abused wife sticking with her husband saying he's normally a good man but just has his moments!

    YES!

I kind of relate this to the old Monty Python 'Dead Parrot' skit. Just replace parrot with a Tacoma..

smitty99- "I'd like to lodge a complaint about this truck"..
hammer- "what's wrong with it then?"
    smitty99- " It's dead."
hammer- "No it's not, it's just sleeping!"
smitty99- "Look lad, the rear end has checked out, the tranny's blooming miscuing, should I go on? It's dead"
hammer- "No it's not, it's sleeping. See there it moved! It's just pining for the trails, that's all!"

    :)

Once I get about 90K next year, I will replace the 2016 with something else. My new rule is only buy a Toyota that is made in Japan.

My plan was a new 2016 Tacoma ,but I wanted to hear what other members were saying .
Glad I stuck with my old 2010 Tacoma for the present time .
Throwing my hard earned cash into a winter vehicle so the Tacoma can stay at home during the frosty days
Have a peek . Making room in the garage as I type this . I like 210 horsepower and 122 mph out of the box
This is also a first year production model

A friend just bought a RAV4 about a month ago, when I looked at the Vin tag I couldn't believe it said made in Japan??
I though they where made in Canada, oh well maybe they have plants all over, but the only other Toyota I know has models made in Japan are the Lexus line. Higher quality for sure, but I would make sure the mode I want is made there.
Other lines I've seen with Japanese models, Honda= Accura, made in Japan, Nissan=Infinity, made in Japan.

    Hope that helps
    Cheers!

You cannot judge a vehicle by its specific forum. Everyone thinks a car is a lemon if you visit the specific forums of complaints.

That said I'm not sure if I'd buy again, maybe if they release a double cab short box auto in canada. Otherwise I'm going 4runner or Highlander next. I need more seats and short wheel base.

I doubt they cut their R&D budgets (the lifeblood of automakers) to fund buybacks and recalls. Just not how it works.

Toyota purposefully doesn't introduce new engines because they prefer to market their "tried and true" bulletproof engines that will last 200k miles and beyond. They're underpowered and inefficient but they're reliable and that's how Toyota has challenged the Big 3 for US auto sales every year. People buy Toyotas because they are reliable, not because they want top of the line engines. I think Toyota was planning to upgrade the Tacoma eventually but the Colorado forced their hand and they probably chose to release the 3rd gen before they wanted.

That's why I prefer Toyota, I don't want to waste my time at the stealership trying to get something done like "please ck my ATF". fook that, my time is valuable to me, and I don't buy because of long factory warranties either, what good are they if I have to wear the tires out getting to them?

If had had listen to the forum B/S that has been going on lately, I would have either missed out on the best Toyota truck I've bought so far, or would have been aggravated, wasting time and fighting with the stealership to get get my ATF checked, my U-joints grease, my U-bolts checked, and a long list of things my truck doesn't need for my time to be wasted on.

But to each their own, I know my area of expertise and live by what I know to be fact.

The forums are great when they are used as intended, not for bashing. This will die down soon, as Toyota sales will be as strong as the US economy will allow and all these nonsense will go away and we'll get back our forum to exchange ideas, find solution to routine issues and so on

    Hope that helps
    Cheers!

Yeah , the forums have a lot of info... If you can't do this stuff to maintain YOUR truck, then get somebody who can.. Best advice I can give ya..
Greasing the zerks is easy.. check the diff's.. easy.. torque the U bolts.. easy..!!
It's YOUR truck... don't let the dealer look after it for you...!!!!!!!

Would I purchase again? Man, I don't know anymore.

There was another thread earlier that got deleted that was discussing how bad Toyota sucks. And like I was saying over there, I've been away from TW for a few months, and the whole time I was thinking how badass my Tacoma is. But now I come back to TW and I feel like it's kind of like those nights when you get really wasted and hook up with a super hot chick, but then you wake up and that super hot chick is actually 300lbs, has hairy armpits, a mustache, and now it burns when I pee.
