So I just saw the new look of the 2016 Taco and was disappointed in the front end work. Anyone els think it looks like a dodge front end?

Me, personally, the new 2016 is growing on me a bit. I think it looks good, but I seem to be a minority around here. People are gonna hate on it, but when it comes out and (hopefully) blows the fish out of the water with performance, gas mileage, and 4x4 prowess, I think we will all start falling in love. Heck, when the 2nd gen Tacoma was introduced, all the first gen guys were going off about how it was a large, ugly, bug-eyed waste of metal. Now, 10 years later, it has been accepted into the Tacoma culture; much like the 3rd gen will be in a few years.

I'm in the market for a new truck, and the I'm looking hard at the Colorado, Canyon, and Tacoma. With that being said, I am very disappointed with the 2016 Tacoma's "new" look. It is a very uninspiring, not so new look to say the least. The Canyon and Colorado offer a refreshed and sportier look for the class, and from all of the reviews I've read/watched, the GMC twins are now the benchmark that all trucks in this class have to aspire to. We'll see how the Tacoma stacks up when people get a chance to drive it but for now, the 2016 Tacoma totally failed the looks category.

Most said the Tacoma failed when the 2nd gens was released. Stats tell a different story.

While I don't have any stats, I can see that the majority of this forum doesn't like the looks and also the majority of internet comments also back up this observation.

You don't think the feelings were much the same? Mark my words, Toyota sales will hit an all time high.

Maybe, but I think GMC did a great job with the twins. Time will tell if their quality will hold up, or not. In any case the Tacoma has some legit competition and the lame looks are not helping their case.

That's not always true. When people like something they usually don't say anything, when someone doesn't like something they tell everyone. This is the internet where people go to crap on everything.

Agree, GM did a fantastic job in the looks dept. Time will tell if they are road worthy and will stand the test of road and off road miles. I am personally hoping for a GM win from a competition and economic perspective.

Very true but the GMC trucks now offer a feasible option for customers to turn to. It may not be all talk...

I have a couple of suggestions for you, first don't believe everything you read on the internet. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but a lot of "experts" have been falling all over themselves to praise the GM twins, even before they were released. I saw them in person. They didn't thrill me. And I was a GM guy for many, many years. I think they are good competition, maybe the only competition for the Tacoma, but time will tell how much competition. My first impression of the 2016 Tacoma is good. I like a lot of what I see but would like to see it in person. Makes a big difference. Probably won't trade in my '13 because I really like it, but so far, I like what Toyota has done with the '16.

Lastly, here are the results of a poll done here on another thread. It doesn't appear as thought the majority of the people here dislike the new Tacoma.

    View Poll Results: 2016 what do like it? Yes [IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG] 16452.40% No [IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG] 299.27% Hell no [IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG] 237.35% Eh [IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG] 8025.56% Ok, but I'd never buy it [IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG] 92.88% No opinion [IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG] 82.56%

The initial general consensus was that most people did not like it, I think most people are coming around and realizing they do like it now. I think it looks rather handsome now. I think it looks much more chiseled and aggressive than the doughball Colorado.

The BIGGEST beef about the 2016 Tacoma is the larger front end. This is what seems to be the consensus here at the forum...the front end.
While it does seem to have a bigger "Schnoz" than before, at least it is current with the times. Meaning, most of the new trucks I've seen and read about at the latest car shows are trucks with gargantuan front ends. None of them look any better (or worse) than the Tacomas' front protuberance.

I actually like the twins (I own a 2006 Canyon by the way); but the 2016 Colorado - to me, looks like it borrowed the front end from a car.
The newer Canyon looks more like a truck to me.

Still...I decided myself to return back to Toyota for my latest purchase, and I am glad I did. This is my third Toyota, and with the problems I've had with GM trucks in the past - that all seems like a distant nightmare now.

Things look different on the showroom floor or in publications than they do on the streets. I liked the look of the Colorado when I saw the original release but the more I see it around town the more it looks like an Equinox with a box. Not a very truck look, especially considering how angular its sibling is.

On a side note my wife loves the look of the Colorado over the Canyon because it's more car like. She's coming from owning cars all her life so that matters on some level. Then again she thinks my Tacoma and the 4Runner front ends look badass :D.

I have to say that when I saw the twins in photos I really liked their look too but after seeing a couple in person not so much. I hope when I see the new Tacoma in person I will like it because I am not liking the front of it yet and I'm trying.

I am the opposite of a few of you. Only liked how the Colorado looked....saw it in person, and LOVED it.

Colorado looks like a european style truck with a car front end and the Canyon is much better looking like a truck
