    I have a 2016 double cab SR5 4x2 4cyl, auto tranny. truck is fine
But it's my first truck in 20 years that was not a 4x4 and I'm thinking of trading for a 17 double cab 4x4 V6 reading the threads on transmission shifting issues has me concerned, am I over thinking it? And I know I will take a beating on a trade

You have no time constraint, so why not just sell it to an individual?

You can even have them do the transfer at the dealership, which allows you to apply the tax toward your new truck. You really only take a beating if you trade. Ask your sales guy if he's open to this. If not, call other dealers.

@cgff I recommend test driving one yourself. Get a rental? or if you have a buddy that owns one borrow it for a day or two. Please test drive. This transmission is diffrent but once you get used to it, you know what toyota was doing especially when you are getting 24+MPG. 49K miles on mine. It is an awesome truck. TRD Sport LB.

A MT is not in the plan would be great but I'd probably have too schedule knee surgery a few months
    After delivery, lol
I do have time as I'm pre qualified for the next 2 months at a low rate through the CU with gap insurance. Was originally planning on buying my lease out, but could buy a year newer with no miles and Same payment? So I'm doing a bunch of research now
if I went back to a diesel it would be a Duramax w/Allison Tranny

No cash down, payment went up $40/month since I opted to get the platinum warranty this time around.

Take a test drive and sit down with a sales guy... whats it take a few hours.... you'll know pretty quick if you new like the truck or not.

Manual tranny isn't so bad. VERY easy smooth clutch.

I actually injured my Achilles tendon on my left leg and drove thru it during recovery & PT. First few days were tough but was still able to drive and clutch.

Highly recommend Manual Trans IF you do not mind rowing your own gears. If you have a lengthy commute in heavy traffic, the Manual Transmission can get OLD very quickly. If I did not live in the city and have to commute across a metro area, I would likely go back to a Manual Transmission. The automatic transmission receives (and deserves IMO) the lions share of the Turd gen criticisms.

V6/Auto here. Assembled in 01/2017 at the San Antonio plant. In "D" the transmission upshifts at about 2000 rpms, and it does like to settle in at 1100 rpms, but I have not experienced any of the problems addressed by the TSB, so I am assuming it has the latest software. One thing to note, I got the truck right off the carrier, it had 2 miles on the odometer. The dealer simply did the normal delivery stuff while I waited. So it appears that the correct software was applied at the time of manufacture.

I've been on 2 test drives both V6 4x4 autos all seems fine the latest I've had for the past few hours will probably pull the trigger on one tomorrow, dealership let me take it home overnight. I figure before I return it I will put a few more miles on it both highway and in town. Now second guessing myself on trim level

    update,
Done deal new owner of a MGM SR5 4x4 V6 Dbl Cab, was planning on buying the low mileage 17 (2650 miles) but due to financing the new worked out to be a better deal. Had 4 miles on odometer plus running boards and tow package sill guards and all weather mats
I know pics are required, if it would only stop raining.
