You can almost double your horsepower by getting a V6. If you are spending around 25k for the new 4 cylinder Tacoma anyways, the V6 is what, an extra $2,500? That's cheaper than a turbo for 119 hp gain. Also the V6 has better resale value.

cheapest V6 option comes in at $31k sticker. not exactly a $2500 up charge.

Almost double the horsepower and goes from 0 to 100 problems in 6 seconds. I'm good on the new V6 till 2017+, my 4 banger has 16k on it and and 0 issues. The 2.7 is what it is, no need to "boost horsepower" I got a K&N mostly because I like buying stuff for my truck, no real other reason.

... and I wanted to put the sticker on my back window...

When I got my 2015 manual 2.7L 4x4, it was 25k plus 760 for convenience package. Since it was a 3 month wait, they asked if I wanted the V6 4x4 manual for 28k ish and 800 extra for automatic transmission.

what is the name of the dealer and how much were they giving you on trade in? I've yet to see a dealer go anywhere near 28k for a v6 3rd gen 4x4.

I had a 2016 SR5 Access Cab, V6 on order for a month before I canceled the order and bought my 2.7.
The V6 was just under $30,000 and didn't even have alloy wheels.
The SR5, 2.7 I bought for just over $25,000 and it has alloy wheels.

Resale value between 2.7/V6 is not much different.

Enough with that nonsense. It's been proven, percentage of value retained is extremely close.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I also think you can't get the Utility package if you get a V6...

People always shit themselves when I say I got my Taco, brand new, 2016, for 22k OTD.:headbang:

Honestly you can't beat that value for a brand new truck with a warranty & basically everything I needed (except for an intermittent wiper switch which cost me $80 and a few minutes tinkering, oh the horror)

A lot of dealers don't want the 4 cylinder or manual Tacomas because it's a harder sell from what I experienced twice trading in my 2.7L. I had 3 different 2.7L and they are reliable, no argument there but it felt underpowered, that's all. I am just happier with my V6 and think it's worth spending a little extra for the V6, just my honest opinion.

Far as getting good deals like buying at invoice or close to invoice is find the right sales manager who is willing to sell 1800 -2k below msrp, I try to skip the bloodsucking dumbass we call a salesman cause he can't guarantee anything and relays messages to the sales manager, cut the middleman out and talk to sales manager directly. Ask for dealers receipt or invoice and look at it carefully. Once you come to a stall at the lowest price on the new truck and the highest on your trade in, then ask for extras like weathertech floormats & TRD air filter at dealers cost and a extra year of free oil change.

2.7 was great in the 1st gen. The 3rd gen I feel is way too heavy for the motor. I drove a customers base SR and it was a dog
