The last fast car I ever owned was about 18 years ago, Trans Am. Since then I have owned a bunch of gas sipping 4 bangers so I don't really notice the lack of HP when I drive my 2.7. That lil power button helps make it feel a little better when you are in a hurry. My wifes V6 Explorer does seem significantly more powerful but I plan on passing this Taco on to my son in about 7-8 years and moving up to a 4x4 TRD Offroad or something. Low cost, low maintenance, high reliability = very happy. I think I am going to scoop up some TRD sport wheels with stock tires that someone is trying to sell at some point over something like the TRD PRO wheels w/ko2 because imo big wheels on this truck might be too big of an impact on power/gas.

Don't forget the gear ratio the 3rd gen auto 2.7 has a 4.30 ratio . That is lower than your old 2nd gen. Plus I have the utility package and that's lower weight.

I would say the base reg cab 2.7L manual was peppy enough cause it's 3300 lbs, but the 4x4 AC is almost 4000 lbs.

i have a '13 which i purchased in dec.'15. i test drove both the '13 and a '16 identicle trucks. power wise i liked the '13 a little better but not really much difference it wasn't the determining factor in my decision. both trucks were great i just liked the '13 a little more
EDIT: both trucks were 2.7, at, ac, 4wd
