Just need some confirmation. (did search) I'm looking at a used 2016 Tacoma OR and it has the factory hitch on it and electrical plug on it. Is it safe to say that this has the tow package on it? If a Tacoma doesn't have the tow package do they even put a hitch on them?

I haven't physically seen the truck yet, so what else can I look for? TransCooler on the front? etc.

Contemplating trading in my 2008 towards a 2016. Also have to admit I like that 'trim' level where they color match the rear bumper and the dual climate controls etc. Just wish they would have put the sliding rear window in the 2016's.

    Thanks!

Does it have the 2 different plug ins molded into the bumper, if so then it's factory tow package

If it has the hitch and plug, I would say yes. they are not going to put on anything they don't need to. The package comes with bigger alternator, trans cooler for the auto, I know there is something else, I just don't recall atm..

    found this
Class-IV towing hitch receiver,31 ATF cooler (not available on M/T), engine oil cooler, power steering cooler, 130-amp alternator, 4- and 7-pin connector with converter, and Trailer-Sway Control (TSC)32 (V6 only)

Holy christ man... open the hood. If it has an oil, trans and power steering cooler, it has the factory tow package.

Thank you very much.. My assumption was confirmed. I'm going to stop by a dealer close by and take a look to see if there is one without the hitch.

Yeah.... and you asked for things to look for "so what else can I look for? TransCooler on the front? etc." Excuse me for assuming that you might see it before you purchased it.

Not to mention the fact i found you all the info you needed in about 6 seconds on google, sent you a highlighted cut and paste and the link.

Still unsure where google says that if the truck has a trailer hitch it has the towing package. I'll decline to comment on anything else you should look up. Other decent members were able to provide what I was looking for.

Yes, you probably should. Why don't you think about it for a few days.

I like interacting with people, we all can google but its not as fun and doesn't strike up a conversation. Isn't that what forums are for?
