I agree with this guy. It does not get that hot up here in summer but in winter driving in -40 with an added windchill or sudden snowstorm is not uncommon. When on the highway you have to drive prepared for a possible breakdown - that means additional clothing, boots, head ware, mitts, candles and perhaps food (e.g. chocolate). There are many people who I see 100 kms from the nearest town wearing nothing but a light jacket and gloves - if they break down, and they can't find help, I don't have much sympathy for them. You can only blame the vehicle so much if something like this happens.

Swimmer, You just have to learn to use the "ignore" button. It will lower your BP because you wont see the crap they spew. Take the 16 Tundra owner...... and "IGNORE"! all better.....

As for the Op... Sorry to hear you got stranded and we feel for the predicament with your child in the car. There is some solid advise and unfortunately if the dealer did not get codes and could not duplicate then you have very little choice but to get it back and drive it! Make sure it's documented properly for this current issue and use that phone "if" it happens again.

Do you have any dealer visit documentation you can post?
Your problem sounds odd, and the story is not clear. Case in point, someone with children would not select a truck to cart them around, the Rav4 would be much better fitted and cheaper, In about the same price range depending on the trim, 4R, Prius and the rest of the Toyota line.

Thus far only one stalling complaint outside TW has made it official and it was on the 2.7L 4 banger, therefore I doubt this could be an epidemic particular to the 3rd gen.

PPL with children do drive trucks, that's a given to anyone with an average intelligence level, but they ussualy use their truck for work and and home projects. But a woman? Unless she's a construction worker, logger, farmer..Men have been known to change options at the last minute because of children.

Hope that helps, if not, it's hoples
    Cheers!

It's that difficult for you to see that people who otherwise would not be joining this forum are doing so because they have a problem with their truck? There are two members in just this thread. It's not 2 out of however many. It's common to see someone make their first post reporting a problem. So, what does this all mean for the perception challenged? It means that the total number of members are on this site has a higher representation of people with problems than simply being some percent of total Tacoma owners. Logic is HARD!!!!!

Yes, it is my friend....it certainly is.....

I didn't join to complain about my truck nor do I think you did either. Guess those two complainers you pointed out cancel out you and me.

I agree to a certain extent. See Swimmers post below.

Still an extremely small percentage, Again I agree to a certain extent. See Swimmers post below.

^This is absolutely why we see so may of these threads. It's unfortunate that people are having these types of issues and the reason that we see it so much here is that peeps go online looking for an answer to a problem and they end up venting it here. The folks who are thrilled with thier new truck just don't go online to spread the joy.

The third gen forum never disappoints me when I need a laugh. Some lady probably, but not certainly of course because internetz, had her Tacoma go full blown stupid on her in a bad spot. The dealer likely isn't getting a code on it and sucks at doing a warm start test so he's just going to hand it back to her. She needs to drive it and document everything from this point on especially if a similar problem should reoccur so she can lemon law the vehicle or get this truck fixed if the problem persists.

    End of story.
