    ^^^^ yep

we've been trying to convince people of this for a long time. Usually by 250-500 miles everything is settled in. Prior to that, you can see some weirdness.

Ok, if doing this is there a need to go through a learning period on the TSB tune and then flash to OVTune?

Or, bang out both flashes right after another and enjoy the benefits?

I'm trying to figure out if my ECU is on the recommended version for the latest tune. I have paperwork showing some ECM reprogram numbers...would I be able to tell my ECU version from that?

I don't have access to an OBII scanner so just checking before I purchase one.

I am wondering how to tell if you have ECU version 04B04 TSB. Obviously I want this verified first before I order and instal. There are a couple tsb updates. I have documentation showing
TSB-0058-18 was completed. Does this mean it is 04B04 ecu version and is there someowhere else on the dealers paperwork I could see ECU version? I apologize if this has been asked before but after reading for a couple hours I did not see it.

Thanks for the help in advance.

I could be wrong, but you probably have 04A61 if you have an updated 2018.

Seeing that you are a 2017 all tune variations for those ECU's should be available, order with confidence. BTW you do not need to know your ecu version to order the tune. Order the tune kit that comes with the tactrix cable and OBDII adapter and you will identify your ECU version with that, then flash the appropriate tune from the flash manager.

I am a 2018 w/o tsb and I am 04A60. If you have the tsb you are 04A61. I believe all the tunes are available to you with either ecu

Gotcha. My paperwork says EG1810 reprogram, part #89661-04K62.

I just wanted to make sure I am on the "best" version if I get the tune as it sounds like some versions are working better than others or are preferred? Maybe I'm misunderstanding other post about it.

Thanks for the help. I am new to learning about the OV tune. In regards to the OV tune what does 04A61 mean to me or effect the tune? All these ECU versions have confused me.

It’s only an ECU ID, if your ecu isn’t 04A61, then don’t worry about it

That doesn't sound like the dealer did the ECU/TCU update but I could be wrong. Regardless, once you have the Tactrix cable and OBDII adapter you can check your ecu version, that will tell you if the TSB has been done. If it hasn't,you can do it with Techstream yourself.

So has anyone taken their truck to the Track to see if the OVTune has gotten us anything better than a 15.2 @ 93mph. Once Mat figures out the quirks i think I'm going to take it. I know most people here are looking for more towing performance but i am one who likes the aggressive pedal response and am interested in the real performance gains we can see out of this NA motor.

Your truck is a 2018. There are tunes available for all 2018 ECU calibration IDs. Without worry go ahead and order the tune kit and when the Tactrix connector and cable arrives you can determine which Calibration ID your truck has. Using that information you can then download and flash the appropriate tune.
