I agree. One that has smoothness on the low end, but the response when getting it at higher speeds.

Coming soon to a theater near you. I think further OV development will address that.

I just want the throttle response to be half way between the two.

I have the same ecu. Been running 93/93 base. Have you tried that setup, does 93/87 base run smoother than 93/93 base?

Running the 87 base tune on 93 gas...

Why not just run the 91 base tune. Pretty much everyone on here has clarified it works ideal with these trucks.

Just seems people are nitpicking the hell out of these tunes.

Are you giving it the miles to settle in?

...like no less than 300 before you form an opinion?. The more miles the better.

Reason I say is because I’m running 87 base with 87 gas and after about 1600 miles my truck is running perfect (minus the “oomf” from the 91 base tune). Lifted, tires, bumper, etc and I am getting >20mpg with gear often. The power is fine (but to be expected - less than 91), ... the truck holds gears better than stock that’s for sure

Around town is going to blow mpgs no matter what and no tune will really help with that stop and go stuff.

I haven’t notice any shudders or weird shifts at this point either. Ran a 1400 mile road trip and this thing was noticeable in the way it dialed in over that distance.

    Agree
Not gonna lie, I ran 87 base, then 87 performance...and currently 91 base, and I dig the hell out of 91 with 92 octane. Been on it for about 800-900 miles and have zero complaints

I think this has been asked before but @OVTune do you have better pictures of the dump tubes? The ones on ovtuned.com are covered in bubble wrap, I would like to get a better look please and thank you! Also do you know the diameter of the tubing?

with ect on, it's pretty much perfect for me, just can't get the damn thing to stay on. the always on
mod works great for months, and then just craps out and no longer comes on @ start, usually after a
few weeks it's working again - fuses good, checked and replaced once so who knows.

    Regarding torque converter shutter.
Through more investigation we have determined this is being caused by the torque converters setting for Slip locking that is available at low engine speed from gears 1 > 5th.
According to documentation our torque converter requires 150Nm to achieve maximum converter efficiency and coupling efficiency (94%)
    more can be read here:
    https://patents.google.com/patent/WO2017154506A1/en
I have not made an ultimate decision on this, but we may remove the function for slip locking completely in 2.0. So that there is unlock and lock states only.

Regarding the sale of used old, dongle version kits >
From today forward we will be requiring all used dongle version kits to upgrade to our P5Flash software for licensing.

I can't speak to the perf 91 but on 91-base, I find myself using sport mode a lot when driving mountain passes because I just don't like the Drive upshifts and downshifts. If you get that weird 4th gear delay in Drive, pop it over to s mode and then upshift to 5 usually works better. I also find sport mode just tends to shift better and sometimes I just leave it in S5 to keep the truck out of the top gear if it's dancing too much. Then once it's leveled out upshift to S6 and truck will shift into any gear it needs.

I was trying to understand what the dump pipes are and how they fit into the Tacoma. Do they replace 1 and 5 in this diagram?

If it simplifies the operation and maintains/improves durability, I'm all for it. Maybe I'm off base, but anything that says "slip" in the A/T equates to increased fluid temps in my mind.

@OVTune I ordered the dump tubes on Friday. Do they include any gaskets that may be needed?

I’m curious to pros and cons of this as well. Why Toyota would have the slip functionality is interesting
