Yessir.

I had warped rotors on our old Dodge due to uneven lug nut torque many years ago. That was when I bought and started using torque wrenches religiously. We haven't had a car that required more than about 95ft-lb. The problem is that it is a small challenge to come up on torques in that range evenly while looking at the readout, esp with my 11in or 12in ratchet. That thing has seen well over 220ft-lb with a cheater pipe, but that is too much of a dance when I can just grab the clicker and be done.

That HF bad boy embarrassed an A&P that said he had a calibrated arm for the lugs on his Accord. After fighting with his brakes for an entire weekend, I let him go at them with my $20 clicker. That was fun.

 

Recently retired general aircraft mech (40 years+) NEVER did the tight, tighter, crap your pants torque!

The Unlimited Hydro guys are a breed of their own. Some of the 'mods' they do are interesting.

My only joy there was helping to change the oil on the turbine. Washing screens and putting it back together was fun.

 

I used the HF electronic torque sensor to do a verification test on hand tapped 4130 for strength vs threaded depth.

I didnt verify its calibration any, just jumped into my tests. (Verifying the book curves).

In the aircraft industry, if you are caught with an out of date cal on ANY tool needing cal, well let us say that your history is going to be scrutinized to the nines! Maybe out of a job too! Maybe kill someone! Don't want that on my hands, ever.

 

I only ran the 2.0 beta OLE for a very short period then switched to beta 4.88 i am liking the beta 4.88 alot more it does perform much better for my truck heavy ass pig! The Tunes just keep getting better and better!

 

I worked with a guy that subscribed to the "turn it 'til it breaks and back it off a half-turn" philosophy at a Toyota dealership some 30+ years ago. I always hated working on his come-backs.
The right tool for the job is usually well worth the money invested. Can't tell you how many hours I wasted cutting off wrenches, welding some shit on there so I could get at it with a wobble.

On another note boys, has anyone tried ethanol-free 89 octane with these tunes? 10% more gas might mean more fun. I know my 1st gen loved that shit. Better pull, idle, and mileage. And it costs about the same as 93 10% corn juice.

 

I think any vehicle runs better without the corn.

 

Oh yeah! My buddy worked for Delta and if a tool was out of place or God forbid, missing, that was yo ass. And the safety wire...

 

I think I run better on corn than my truck! I am sure of it!
Plus that shit is a water magnet. Literally. And I live in Fla.
So have you run any corn-free thru your rig?

 

I think that while 100% gas has more energy per unit weight, it has poorer knock resistance. Meaning that an ethanol blend can take more ignition advance. Gas definitely gets better mileage than ethanol.

Unfortunately there are zero stations within 200 miles that sell it. From using ethanol free in all of my yard equipment I can definitely tell the difference there.

 

What you live in Kansas or something?! 200 miles. Wow. Yeah, ethanol is the #1 killer of small engines for sure.
