Tacoma - OVTUNE - VFTUNER - Update Info and Original Development

I've flushed my transmission fluid as well. I have seen temps in the 240's with the tune while towing my 2 ton dual axle trailer up steep highway grades (2.5 tons when wet/loaded up). The fluid certainly smelled BURNT.

My concern is whether or not the torque converter is open during high power freeway pulls (high RPM in 2nd gear or relatively high RPM in 3rd gear) generating excess heat.

 

On a trip from Cincinnati to Moab and back this past Sept (also towing my 4200lb camper) I was monitoring T-temps going over both sides of the IKE, and max temp reached was 242 degrees on the most serious part of the climb. Didn't smell anything and she ran just fine.
Also after I returned home I had the dealer replace all my fluids (@46,000 miles). The tech said the fluid was dirty but not in bad condition. I think ya'll worry too much.

Btw this was my second trip out west with the same truck towing same camper. No issues at all.

 

the gear lock files should prevent the torque converter slip you are worried about. Look at mat’s recent post detailing changes in the latest (not yet released) beta file. It should be great for the guys that tow.

 

This kit and the magnuson are both TVS1900. So the reality of who wins this battle is : Price, Fitment, quality, etc. Since it's the same blower the power from either should be *really close* assuming all others are the same (pulley size etc).

Magnusons uses an additional crank pulley, which means you have to swap crank pulleys on the engine. Which is a little bit of a PITA.

Note, I am pretty much out of the loop with tickets until this friday with all the SEMA stuff going on and some personal things on my side.

 

Regarding the OFT error 10003... that's specifically and only for the OFT handhelds with this error. It's not a "tune update" it's a software update so these guys can flash

 

Wow this is it, clean install that doesn't take over the whole engine bay. I will get this when its available, hopefully OVTune does too.

 

And the people who pre ordered with the tune already installed? Any updates on when we can use them?

you just plug the handheld into your pc and run the handheld software

 

Harrops reservoir looks like it will interfere with most peoples aux fuse panel. Not that it couldn’t be overcome. This shouldn’t be an issue with the Magnuson design.

 

Sorry, I meant already installed on the hh not the truck. I dont have the tune yet. I dont have a computer to update the new HH with. Just dont know what I'm supposed to do with it. Sorry if I'm confused.

 

Having trouble with installing the 2.0 downloaded from website, when i go to flash manager all of sudden it’s not reading my Ecu and i get unsuccessful when i just did it yesterday am i doing something wrong

 

I saw that reservoir right where I have a compressor but I also have a second battery on the other side so with the Magnusson setup I would have to lose the battery wheres with Harrop I will need to find a new spot for the reservoir, should be doable.

 

in the TacomaBeast interview the Magnuson guy mentioned that the reservoir on the passenger side would be a molded plastic one for the public release, not the fabricated one on their truck now. So hopefully they shrink it down a bit since that reservoir now is huge.

I have the same secondary battery concern though so fingers crossed it will all fit

If the "2.0 final" out performs 0944 (4.88 performance tune) it will be amazing as 0944 is 99.9% perfection for my 04B04. Thanks Mat!

 

0944 is a performance 87 octane? I thought I noticed better tip-in with this tune. This has to be the only performance (more aggressive tip-in) 87 octane tune I’ve tried and you’re right. It’s cherry
