    Tuning my truck now
2016 TRD off road AT - there is no 04B03 - should I change it to 2017? When I change the year to 2017 04B03 is available.

    Any help is appreciated!

Yes that will work,it's been mentioned many times before. You use the tune that matches your ECU calibration ;)

I have a ‘17 auto and I think it’s time to bite the bullet and get the tune. This might be a dumb question but bear with me -

The $699 “flash kit” vs the $699 “16-17 tacoma tablet tuner” - the only difference in what I receive is the tuner itself, right? (Plus the added capabilities that come with having the tuner)

I want the handheld tuner but I want to make sure I’ll still have all of the tunes included and I’m not just paying for the tuner itself, still the Flash/tune package.

IIRC it comes with tune files installed and it includes the license to download and install all the available tune files for your particular truck. FWIW I think people are still waiting on the manufacturer of the handheld to sort out some software issues. OVTune only develops the tune files and does not manufacture the handheld tuner. He relies on the manufacturer for all software that is related to device operation.

Tune files are not installed. OVT software customization is pre installed. You can load tunes from OVT onto it once you get your correct ECU ID.

For a 2018 Tacoma V6 AT, TSB "T-SB-0062-18" updates from 04A60 to 04A61 to correct a stumble at wide open throttle during takeoff at high altitude.
Is that all that it corrects? If not does anyone know what else is corrected with this update?
I am talking about an all stock Tacoma belonging to the average Tacoma owner.
I know it allows more OV Tune options.
    Mine was just updated.
    Thank you Dave.

OVTUNE TOYOTA FLASH TUNE KIT INSTRUCTIONS

This is what I was provided via email after I placed my order (via PDF).
    INSTRUCTIONS V.1
    INSTALLING OVTUNE FLASH MANAGER
    DOWNLOAD HERE
New versions are now available for x86 and x64

(x86 works for all windows versions)
    https://s3.us-east-2.amazonaws.com/ovtune/bin/ToyotaFlashManagerInstaller_1.0.4_x86.exe
(x64 for newer 64 bit PCs)
    https://s3.us-east-2.amazonaws.com/ovtune/bin/ToyotaFlashManagerInstaller_1.0.4_x86_64.exe

After installing (x86 works for all windows versions), I opened Flash Manager (version 1.3.0) and hit the instruction tab.
This is what I got from doing that (via PDF).
    INSTRUCTIONS V4.2
    STEP 1 TRUCK FLASHING LICENSE
    Download the software & Drivers
    P5Flash SOFTWARE LINK:
    https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0885/5830/files/p5flash.exe?6863261005404743
    TACTRIX DRIVERS LINK:
    https://www.tactrix.com/downloads/openport2_setup_1024791.exe

    I have a 64 bit Windows 10 LapTop. I already installed the Instuctions V.1 x86 version.
What would I notice if I switched to the Instructions V.1 x64 version?
What would I end up with if I loaded the Instructions V4.2 software?

just curious, or for my own sanity/clarification, when people throw the the word 'stock' around now in context of the beta they are referring to the 'stock exhaust' in the beta file I guessing and assuming? I just want to make sure as it is somewhat confusing since there is tune version 'stock' which is just reverting back to actual 'stock' tune.

maybe... when discussing how the tune effects the trucks performance and driveability there is a lot of different with aftermarket exhaust, larger tires, gears, extra weight etc, so "stock" usually refers to the truck being stock with a tune

Morning y'all! Recently tuned the truck with the 87 octane base tune (Thanks OVTune!) Put about 150-200 miles on the truck since the tune, both city and highway, and noticed that all but one issue has been resolved. If going up a slight incline at speed (40+ mph,) the truck will downshift just fine, but as soon as it does the rpms drop by ~200 revs, sometimes more. Kind of pointless to downshift a single gear if it's just going to immediately drop down like that. I tried more skinny pedal after the initial downshift and at times it will hold at that rpm but there's a noticeable dead spot between there and getting it to downshift another gear. Hopefully I didn't butcher the explanation, the truck is so close to where I want it, thought y'all might have some good feedback or other things to try.

    ECU: O4A60
    Tune: 1.05, 87 octane, base

There are newer tunes avaliable. I tuned to 2.0beta, 87 and havent experienced that issue.

It could be the torque converter locking up. One way to know if the TC is locked is to have an OBDII reader and an app like obd fusion with the toyota pids to monitor that status. You may be able to also gather this info with the new data logger.

You can change tunes or you can also log the event and submit a zendesk to Mat
