The only real difference I notice on my 91 2.0 beta (non performance) tune with 04b04 is that when starting the truck Cold. Its around 0 degrees in -40 conditions (celcius) I use a block heater. The start up is fine but it's like a really slow start up. Not sure how to describe it. It's like the rpms slowly rise up and it actually isnt so loud as I was stock tune. It sounds like its burping a bit. I should get a video of it I have a mbrp exhaust so when cold she is quite loud for her cold starts. I honestly thought at first she was gonna like stall or something but she starts n runs fine. I dont notice any difference driving wise. I baby it as I warm up. But I dont start driving till above 50 degrees on engine temp

Loving the new Tundra. When I want more power I just push down the gas. No freaking having to fill up with 93, push ect, and limit trans to 5th gear. Gas mileage around town about 2 mpg worse than the taco. Highway damn near the same. I was only getting 17.5 with my taco. I'm averaging 17 with the tundra. To me I think the loss of a couple mpg's in the city is well worth it..

I'll have to pay closer attention to startup. I know the rpms will bounce around a little. I'm also one of those that gets misfires mostly on a cold engine.....happens stock and tuned. 2017 OR, 04B04.

I have some rough idle and engine surges where I have to make sure I have the brake firmly pressed to prevent sudden acceleration in reverse if I don’t let it warm up before driving.

Is this what you are talking about? I’m on 2.0 19800 91 perf beta on a 2018 with latest ecu update.

My truck sometimes idles slightly rough. It was doing it today in the colder weather. I would describe it as the idle of a car with a mild street-race cam.

I don't think there is any difference between stock and 1.05 that I am using now. It also doesn't really bother me as long as I know it isn't something wrong. I have a friend with a Tacoma and she asked me if there was something wrong with her truck. I had no answer. Now maybe I do.

Some of the decisions Toyota made developing this truck boggles the mind. It won't lock when you leave it idling in your driveway to melt the ice off your windshield. But I digress.

I have a question maybe I’m not remembering correctly... I’m on 91 tune right now and could have sworn there were 2 versions of each octane on 2.0 beta. 87 base, 87 performance and same for 91. Am I wrong on this as I see only one option for 91 and one option for 87 on beta page. The reason I ask is I’m done trying out 91 tune files and time to test out the 87 files for a while but wanted 87 performance first unless 2.0 is performance only or base only. Thanks.

To be clear this idling thing I am talking about is not actually a problem, rather it's the calibration design.
The problem is this design creates....shitty idle on some trucks in the cold.

Also, after trying out the betas, is there any reason I should try 1.05 despite the fact of possibly experiencing the brake override malfunction?

I love when someone adds a useless reply that is not constructive to this thread. Take away the useless replies and this thread would not be over 2700 pages. A lot of us are guilty of this.

It could be informative to know what years and tunes are affected and which are not affected. Maybe it is all involved or maybe not. Statistical Analysis becomes more accurate with more information. I don't think everyone has or will chime in that doesn't have the problem. I also don't think everyone has or will chime in that does have the problem.

Would anyone have any information if an OVTune would work the Nitro 5.29 gearing? could there be any possible driveline issues?

So, I looked at 1.05 and early 2.0 version logs and I see 1,3,5 cylinders misfiring prevails over 2,4,6 at startup and driving below 1500 RPMs. I did have a few Lucille's though ...
Question to @OVTune, why TSB calibration does not care about your findings? We all under impression that toyota could not tune a horse baggy. I would get 3 to 4 misfires at startup and 1-5 on 20+ miles drive( slow driving included) on stock.
Did you fat fingure 1 somewhere instead of 0?
    Joking
