Question for you, as it will help me decide if I want to get VF tuner for $69 in addition to the flash tune kit I already have. If we really enjoyed the tip-in and aggressive 1.05 performance, would I be satisfied with 2.0 performance/map switching or would I still want to use
How much does your camper trailer weigh? What model trailer is that?

Well youre no help then. I have the file for 33s. I guess I can run that. I am test running a set of 35s this weekend up Red Cone/Radical/SOB and really want the GL tune for those trails.

I'm not sure what resting LV & AT do. But I flashed it and then chose AT. Here's what I'm getting below. (I deleted the system ID info at the top)

When I try to read it, I get the following:

Now you shut off truck. Wait 20 seconds or so. Turn ignition on, clear the LV and then AT (if automatic) then fire that bitch up and let idle 10 minutes. Don't touch gas or brake. You can close VF tuner and unplug cables while it idles. After 10 minutes, shut her down or let her rip!

That looks like a successful flash to me.

I would do both a reset LV (Learning values) and reset AT (Auto trans).

Those reset some of the values in the ECU that don’t always get cleared during the flash.

You need to turn the ignition on, engine off to do them, just like flashing. After doing them, let it idle for 10 minutes.

appreciate the info fellas. What’s weird is, I bought credits (4 for $75) on their website. Sent in that order number plus the info you get from “identify” to ovtune. They never replied back (3 days ago) so I just said F it and plugged it up and ran the flash. I guess the credits aren’t necessary or am I missing something?

I never let it idle either. I'm going to go back out, flash it, clear LV, clear AT, turn it off, then turn it back on and let it idle for awhile. Go from there.

??? thought the initial purchase included credit for your ecu - and purchasing more credits was to do vehicle with different ecu. no purchase necessary to any and all vehicles with your ecu. ?? others will chime in.

That's what I thought as well. But I didn't buy this equipment (software and cable), it belongs to a friend.

Is there any way to 100% make sure you have a tune on your vehicle? Kind of in a weird spot here and hoping I did it right.

I might have missed something, but did you have both a Tune Pack and vF Tuner? If you only had vF Tuner; then the stock tune is the only one available and that would explain why you didn't see a change. Of course I could have missed a post or two where you already covered this

    Edit:
I think I'm missing something  I'll back out and let smarter folks chime in. It just seems like there is a missing step to get your ECU registered and a tune installed.

?? is your friends truck the same ecu as yours? If so you did not need to purchase. hardware is interchangeable - the software "Key" is what you purchase (initial purchase and additional purchase credits for other ecu number) so if you used his computer (software) and it worked then they are the same ecu == ??

Just a note on the process

    Ignition on
    Flash tune
    Ignition off
    Ignition on
    Clear LV
    Clear AT
    Ignition off
Start truck and idle for 10 minutes

My buddy bought everything that is required ($700+). I bought the credits for $75 to unlock/register my ECU and flash it. Sent that order number in along with my ECU information to OVTune with not reply yet. Was curious about trying to flash it. So I went to the 2.0 Blog post, found the zip folder that matched my ECU code (different ECU then my buddies, mine is 04B80 and his is 04A60) and then found the tune that matched my setup the most: 04B80_Reg_33_Thx_5.29.p5f and sent it.

Is there a thread going for people searching for other folks who have already bought the software and are willing to flash others trucks? I tried searching but didn’t find anything. I’m in SW Colorado and would be happy to pay a fee to a fellow taco owner...
