The cost of living in the portion of VA where Mat's located is VERY affordable. Doubt you could get what he likely has anywhere in that state.

A pic or short vid would help us understand. Maybe try the gear lock in 4lo while you're at it :D

    OOOF lol.

BTW you get A+ wifey rating on the kickass xmas light stringing ability.

My snowblower is all tuned up and ready to go, expecting to get boot fucked with storms a few times in the new year.

Do you need an OVTune for your snowblower?

    Nope lol!

Carb rebuild this fall, new plug, changed the oil. Tightened up drive/auger clutch linkages. Nom nom nom through anything. No bogging under load.

Idle is a little fucky, but hey - my truck does that too ;)

Oh, and it has a CAI!

I did a 4wheeling ride yesterday. It was a very rough bumpy trail and I stayed in 1st smode in 4low the whole time. On the descents I noticed unpredictable engine braking. @OVTune will 1.05 even out the engine braking in 4low?

That's called DFCO. It's really noticeable on the M/T.

    We'll see..

Ah, .......so it should be predictable with rpm... which it's not.

Kinda... you can be getting good engine braking and slowing down in 1st until the rpm reaches about 1300. Then the injectors kick back in and off you go... until the rpm rises to about 2300-2500. Then the injectors cut off again. It depends what part of that cycle ur in when you start going down a steep grade.

Im not sure how it's supposed to work but I don't want to lose engine braking while descending regardless of how high the rpms go. I feel like I have more control of the truck using the engine for braking compared to riding the brakes.
Edit: I mean while in 4low

Yea its awful. Even just normal driving. Coasting up to a stop light, RPM hits 1500 ish and the truck coasts away.

Finally I see someone else talking about this. This is one of the absolute worst things when I am offroading down a steep grade. It makes engine braking impossible as the truck speeds up and slows down constantly. So frustrating.

Picked up my truck today, 4.88 in the front and rear. Can't wait for the 1.05 tune for the 4.88 gears.

@OVTune I’m running 33s. Was planning on doing 4.88s as the tunes so far don’t seem to fix the erratic shifting. Do you think 4.88 gears will still be needed even with all the goodness you’re doing with 1.05 or will 1.05 cure the shifting with stock gears?

It definitely seems to do it more when you don’t let it warm up for 30 secs

I have something I'm testing for engine braking, since we can't close the throttle more, due to the throttle being used to control idle, I'm working on trying through VVT, so the cylinders can stop leaking out pressure from valve retard.

Imagine you try to engine brake but your valves don't close. (Not really but delayed close) there's nothing for the piston to compress.
The rpm area where you want the most engine braking it seems, from 1200 to 2000 rpm is where the valves are at the most retarded angle.
With 1.05, we are rewriting the VVT map entirely, literally. The stock table we can't target anything under 15% engine load there is no changed in valve target. So if, during engine braking or decel engine load goes below 15%, it will still use the 15% or higher VVT target angle. The same target angle if you're driving.

With our new VVT map we will have target angle changes all the way from 5% engine load, lowest possible.

Also, just got so say even with the quirks I love this truck. It cleared right up the hill with 4low

Good God, didn't think about that, best warm the damn thing up before trying to back into anything. I really hope 1.05 fixes this, if not I have one other option another forum user told me about, apparently TSB 0062-18 (meant for stumble at high altitudes) fixed their backing up surge. If 1.05 doesn't work, i plan to deal with the fool dealership and get this TSB 0062-18. If neither 1.05 nor the TSB work, i am going to run this truck off a high altitude cliff!
